I was celebrating my passing of Course M at MiMi's Cafe last night. I told the Waitress, and she gave me a free dessert. It was sort of a chocolate creme pie with a lot of whipping cream.

I was celebrating my passing of Course M at MiMi's Cafe last night. I told the Waitress, and she gave me a free dessert. It was sort of a chocolate creme pie with a lot of whipping cream.

That's great! One time when my parents took me to a restaurant to celebrate passing an exam, my mom called to make a reservation and they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. My mom says "oh yes! My daughter passed her actuarial exam!" There was a dead silence on the phone......then the girl says "oh......okay." I didn't get a free dessert that night, but the guy celebrating a birthday across the aisle from me did. I told my mom she should have made up some kind of exam or profession that the restaurant had actually heard of.

I got a free dessert last night because my entree took over an hour (apparently this place only had one cook for a while and there are about 50 seats and it was packed).

I know thats a little different but it was my first free dessert in a while.

The only time I ever remember getting a free dessert was when I went on vacation and got locked out of my cabin (it wasn't my fault; I had the key but the lock somehow broke). The main desk was already closed for the evening, but the resort's restaurant was open so I went there for help. They gave me free dessert while I sat there and waited for the maintenance person to arrive.
