I purchased the ASM manual, which says that we can take the MFE instead of MLC if we are interested in pursing the Risk Management track.
Can anyone please clarify? Is this referring to taking the FSA component of “Advanced Finance and Enterprise Risk Management” or a different designation?

Any information is appreciated.

I don't think the SOA has finalized this alternative designation yet, but if you hunt around their website for white papers you might find something.

But I thought you want to be an actuary ...

The are talking about the 'ERM' designation that the SOA is planning on doing. If you want to be an FSA then you will need to take both MFE and MLC so it won't matter in which order you take them.

FYI the ERM designation is suppose to be around the ASA level and if you plan on getting your FSA then forget that you ever heard about any ERM designation from the SOA.
