View Full Version : Holiday Informal (caution, flirt thread!)
Anonymous

As indicated on the WC:
After the rousing success of the Masquerade Ball, Ammie & Draco requested that someone host the next event, the Holiday Informal. Tiger & I have agreed to host this event, to take place on December 15, 2001. This date was chosen so it lands in the middle of Chanukah, and is close to Christmas.
Menu will include all the usual Xmas foods, as well as Chanukah favorites (potato latkes, anyone?)
Both Santa Claus and Chanukah Harry will make an appearance. We'll have a grab bag-gift exchange, limited to $20...shop wisely!
Won't you join us?
All RF Posters are invited.

For those unfamiliar...
Get yourself a date. Ask your intended here, or in private messages (tho here is more fun for all), and be with us that evening for raucous cyber party!

Just remember these ominous words from the WC’s Johnny on the Spot:
“Which of the following might potentially cross the line in a future episode and drag down unsuspecting participants: game threads, flirts, political threads (CAS/world/US), other?”
I’m in ... as long as we do it over here on the RB!!!
Does anyone have a date lined up already? I don't know if I should take ADIP ... she really tired me out at the masquerade. I don't know if any one man could satisfy her. Perhaps Tiger and Nesbit could be her co-dates.

Tiger is already hosting the party with elmo, and Bama isn't letting Nesbit out of her sight.
Other than that, it's a good plan. (hehe)

Other issues that have come up...
Grab bag gifts should be wrapped.
Food items for the party...let's not have all cookies...some variety would be nice.
This is a HOLIDAY party, not any particular holiday, religious or not. It's just for a fun get together.
ne11er, ask another poster...any poster. It's the fun part of all this.

I'm here. Haven't been around much lately for a number of reasons, but peeking in now and then. I have neither extended nor received an offer for this particular event, but then again, I will be on my husband's arm that evening at his company holiday party. So I suppose I can hang around for some of the exciting pre-party wind up, but I will be a no-show that night.

Are married men allowed, if we disguise ourselves and remove our rings? (that's wedding, not belly, nipple or other sensitive parts.)
Not that I have any personal interest in another board, but I have been known to enliven a few such parties. Some say intelligence is the greatest aphrodesiac, along with a good sense of humor, and I can vouch for those aphorisms.
But one rule I require--no toucheee my body...it has been worn out by many such excesses and debauchery over many decades, sometimes not even by other people... which leads me back to the last para...(I'm good at circular connections.)

Flora's alive???
I was watching a movie on TCM last night and Flora died of pneumonia in Paris. Now that I think about it, that must have been Liz, not Flora, I get the two confused. I can't believe I cried myself to sleep last night thinking Flora was gone.
I'm so relieved that Flora is OK, if I had known it was just Liz last night, I wouldn't have gotten so emotionally distraught.

I am not mad about Draco. The sun is just one light from which one could read a book about the meaning of crab cakes. Given that, one can assume that Frosty will be tied to a railroad track and given the right to eat toxic mold. So, why should I be mad.

You guys cant really be actuaries--cause actuaries dont have no sense..of humor. I got it--you guys are still 'students'--and will fail long before you make it.
It's kind of reverse evolution--devolution. You wind up with tight-asses who can not walk, talk or chew bubble gum...even one at a time.
Hey--about my jokes..you shudda seen me in the old days--when the Net was young and so was I. (whn I start to repeat myself, lookout.)
Someday, I will tell you about some of the marvelous characters I befriended when everyone was crazy (and loose) on the net--a mystical gal from Hawaii who knew all these things about me without me telling her, and who eventually married an equally mystical guy artist--wow what work--coming to Hawaii from a small town in Germany--a Jamaican gal living in Canada, daughter of an embassy official, an OZZIE living in Germany who I helped get a divorce from a beastie man from Norway, so she could go back to OZ and become an erotic artist (no joke), and another OZZIE gal who is a genius architect working in a man's world, and totally gorgeous to boot, a blonde babe--with a sense of humor that was unbelieveble (sent me several pics and two books--one on OZ humor the other on a magazine featuring her buildings and house, I sent here some of my stuff like A Speaking Southern book--what is about aussies anyway?--They are like we used to be. Ohh never mind, you dont really want to know any more.
On the other hand, maybe that is not such a good idea talking about this--Ashcroft is listening--and watching--and has downloaded my old stuff to see if I am a terroist as many Republicans claim.
I hear tell he is enjoying my playful stuff, fileld with erotic imagery and more, as it was. They say that anything you have ever typed on the net is still recoverable.
If so, I am not sure if that will make me famous or infamous, but so long as it is posthumus (or is that posthumorous, or maybe posttumorous ot posthumungous), but as long as they spell my name right, it will be ok.

Polly,
Yes, I did originally have a date over on the CAS Forum. However, I don't believe that she has posted in nearly two weeks, and I don't know if she even knows that the party has been moved.
With all due respect to her, I would consider it an privilege to escort you instead. That is, if you would do me the honor.
As for the "errand boy" comment, that should actually be "errand boy pending approval". I have applied for errand boy status to the WC Chicks. I have performed a couple of probationary tasks for them, but I have not yet received formal acceptance. I await their deliberation on pins and needles.

More on Joanie loves Chachi:
You look at me, Soft as any touch could be
And suddenly
There`s magic, when you look at me
I feel like I`m in heaven every moment when
You look at me...
You look at me, and suddenly, I`m captured in your eyes
You look at me, there`s magic in your eyes.
I think that's the rest of it. My sister had the sheet music for this, and I used to sing it while she played the piano. Boy, was that a long time ago...

I wish I may, I wish I might, go with you to the Holiday informal on that night.
You are sooooo beautiful, that I could never imagine what it would be like to be with you on such a special night. Looking into the stars. Wondering where they are. That on this very special night, you and I will be as one. Sharing every special moment, together as one. Feeling as one. Experiencing as one. I can't tell you how disappointed I would be if you said no. I might have to end it all tonight. Ohhhh, woe is me. To have to face a night of not knowing if my true love is really there for me, or would choose another, someone who could never love you as I do, someone who is a non-believer, in love at first site. You cannot imagine how my heart will sink, to the bottom of the ocean, wanting, waiting, for you. And no one else in the whole world. You are sooooo, beautiful, so lovely, so sexyyy. You are much, much better looking that Cristine Aguilera. She is such a ho'... However, when you were on the Mickey Mouse club and I was just 12 years old... I wanted you... Thought about you... I remember in Mrs. Harrison's fourth grade class, you were my favorite Mouseketeer. I knew then that you would be the future Mr. Samuelson (they made me change my last name when I joinged N-Sync.)
I truly love you Britney. Lets say our vows on the night of the informal.
Love, Justin

it's funny to see how many chicks have not found dates yet. is there a shortage of men on this board ? on the wc, there's d be thousands of dudes crawling to get that cyberdate. downside is, you'd have to spend the cyber evening with a potter-head, a trekkie or a wookie.
well ladies, the jet-flying, limo-riding, kiss-stealing, wheeling-dealing son of a gun is not available. i will only show up at that thing to kidnap my widow. and she'll be mourning thru the morning!

Pretty funny and dare I say it intelligent and even gasp, sexy stuff here.
Looking at this thread I am reminded of Dr. Frankenstein and his Monster--a good and gentle soul who was nonetheless burned by the Townsfolk.
I guess it shows that Traci and actuaries do have souls after all, and a sense of humor too.
I will have to change my business cards and stationary to remove the part about Saving Your Souls--that is assuming you are actuaries and not merely gender bending lurkers.
I almost get a sense of the personality of the Actuarial Monsters here...cool.

Quadratic Formula, Draco told me to tell you that he isn’t embarrassed by the Daisy Dukes. It is a question of warmth. His kryptonite to Superman is the cold. He is a big sissy about the cold. He often complains that Texas is way too cold by his standards. Wuss.
Ammie, Draco told me to come pick you up in the limo. I have a dehumidifier in the back to keep the cotton candy in tact during the ride. Draco apologizes but he won’t be able to join you on the ride. He said that he’d meet you at the party. Do you like my chauffeur’s uniform? Hop in. Let’s go. No wait. I’m sorry. Would the lady care to enter the extremely expensive and hard to come by limo? No wait. I think it is best if I don’t open my mouth again.

Princess,
The sleigh is out; elmo says we can’t count on snow. The horse-drawn carriage should be a suitably festive substitute.
Brooms would have been faster. Even Draco learned how to ride one, so I’m sure you would have no problem, but air turbulence could be a problem for your costume.
See you soon.

hey party people! It's now about 3:10 my time, 6:10 on the east coast. I'll be checking in on the festivities, which are destined to go on thru tomorrow, at least! I've added my gift to the grab bag. It's a very large bag...
People have asked how the grab bag thing is going to work...at 7pm (my time)/10pm eastern time, I'll start off assigning numbers, by the order of those who check in here. Hopefully, a whole slew of people will check in between now and then...
At that point, whoever is #1 will select a gift, unwrap and tell what it is (use your imagination!), and who it's from. Then, #2 can either decide to take that gift, or select another. If #2 takes what #1 has, then #1 selects again, and then #3 goes; else, #2 selects.
Hopefully, we can do this in an orderly fashion! Of course, based on past experience with Othello, this is destined to be a mess...we'll see how it goes!
Happy Holidays to all!

Oh, I seem to be overdressed. Apparently ties are not typical attire. I never know West Coast standards. And I thought Rudolph's light up nose, and the button that plays "Jingle Bells" would be such a hit.
If you'll just excuse me, I'll step away briefly and come back wearing something more casual.

Elisha, let’s go outside. Right now, Elisha. [I grab Elisha by the scruff of the neck and pull him outside (http://www.actuary.ca/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1271&forum=21&0). Please, no females should follow the link.]
[I return without Elisha.] I hope he has learned his lesson. He should be more mindful of what follows a kiss from Ammie next time. And if not, I’ll have to take care of him again. I am not sure for how long he will be incapacitated. Let this be a warning to the rest of the men.
I don’t remember dancing in my fireman underoos? Of course, I don’t remember much except Ammie singing Nasty Boys by Janet Jackson during karaoke. Someone said Ammie was swapping out drinks after I had drunk three-quarters of a drink with a drink three-quarters full. I thought I only had three drinks but someone said I had many, many more. Corrupting a young innocent boy should be crime; at least the way Ammie does it.
I also remember singing Silver and Gold by Yukon Cornelius after I picked up the Herbie Bobblehead in the Dirty Santa Game. What did everyone else get?

Ah, yes, the gift exchange.
I felt very awkward participating at all. Since I chose to attend at the last minute, I hadn't brought a gift. So if I took one, someone would be doing without at the end.
What a hostess that elmo was! She put me right at ease, explaining:
1. Tiger had thoughtfully provided some extra gifts, just for this situation;
2. Draco and Gandalf would know some appropriate spells if we needed any more; and
3. With so many people logging on a different times, there's no chance anyone would ever realize a discrepancy.
You WC folks do these galas right.
So I took a gift. Wow, from Lara Croft. I hadn't even seen her until then. Nice big box. Little rattle inside. It is...
Hungry hungry hippos!
[graciousness] Thanks, Lara, just what I've always wanted. [cross her off the greeting card list.]
Then no one wanted to take it from me. Wonder why?

Must have been a great party, since everyone seems to be sleeping it off. Looking forward to more reminiscences (sp?) on Monday.
I don't believe I noted above, but my Charlie in the Box came from our Sugar Daddy, moj!

ADIP, I loved your rendition of Wild Thing. I thought Nature Boy was going to fall off the stage beside you. What kind of dance was he doing anyway?
Now how did you know that Charlie came from me?
As was the case last time, I left early with my date. The events of the watercooler left us looking for the warmth of each other.

Thanks, Ammie, I also enjoyed your rendition of Brick House - I can't imagine why all the men stopped dancing and started staring though!
moj, gee that's not who I remember you leaving the party with - maybe I did have one too many hurricanes...
Hurricanes!!!!!!!!!!
Now you are talking my language.

hmmm...... Was that a party or what? It all seems like a dream......
QF, you were a wonderful date. The earrings were perfect. I'll treasure them always - well, as soon as I have them appraised.
Hey, those hurricanes were something else! I didn't do anything embarressing, did I?

Elmo, thanks again for hosting such a fabulous event. It was an evening to remember.
And, Franchise, well, what can I say... the time until our next meeting will be intolerable. Thank you for such a magnificent night/morning.

Polly, you kept revealing small portions of your waist and hips trying to show me a tattoo until you realized you were thinking of someone else’s tattoo but that’s not really embarrassing. I quite enjoyed hearing your rendition of You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC. I didn’t think you could pull it off as a slow ballad.

Princess Fiona,
Thanks for a wonderful evening! You were fantastic! After that performance, you won't have any trouble getting dates for future RF / WC parties.
elmo, thanks for making it all possible. You were the perfect hostess not to accuse me of destroying the holiday decorations when I broke off that navel-sized sprig of mistletoe.

I was happy to be of **help** in forgeting our WC woes. Next time let's only drink 1/2 of a fifth ok?

Ah, Mulan,
Who thought CAS actuaries had no imagination? That was a wonderful suggestion you had, when the line to get under the mistletoe was so long, that elmo's spider fern in the hanging basket looked enough like mistletoe for you.
Nice demonstration that CAS-types are great kissers, too.

Oh, Gandalf, THAT WAS YOU??!!! What a terrific way to spend a Saturday evening.
Moj, we weren't dating exclusively or anything, right? I thought ADIP was your main squeeze.
Gandalf, you up for a rematch sometime?

You didn't recognize me in my holiday attire? I thought my Aimless personality was clear enough.
Out of curiosity, who DID you think it was? Certainly not moj; we knew where he was.
Rematch? Sure, though I'm still hoping for more time with Princess Fiona as well.

Draco: "What did everyone else get?"
Don't remind me. Who's idea was the dirty santa trading scheme?
The gift I opened was quite nice. Too nice. After the trades, somehow I ended up with "The Complete Wisdom of Andy Lang". On the bright side, it wasn't too much to carry home.

Sorry Gandalf, just reveling in the feeling. I really didn't have any real good idea of what was going on. (little drunk, I think.)
At one point, I was with someone who claimed to be Brad Pitt, and I think ADIP was there for a while. I must have gotten her mixed up with you, G, but I don't know how!
Man you can pucker up good! Forgive me?? please??
XOXOXO

Now I understand. Yes, I had just begun to kiss ADIP (she didn't even insist on a mistletoe substitute) when you and moj strolled by. ADIP doesn't embarrass easily, but I'm still not so comfortable being watched by WC types, so we broke apart. It was I, not ADIP, who joined you, first in the mistletoe line and then elsewhere.
All is forgiven. XOXOXO!

Mulan and Gandalf? I am so turned off. Atleast Ducky kept my ADIP sheltered all night. That is until I was ready to leave.

Wow, what a hangover! Gandalf, you were a perfect gentleman, making sure I got home safely. Maybe we can "go out" again sometime...or stay in.
elmo, thanks for a lovely party. Sorry about the "incident"...I was very drunk. No more tequila! And this time, I really mean it!
The party was a blast, but it will be my last. I now realize that cyber flirting is inappropriate and unprofessional. Perhaps someday you will all wise up and join me in some serious actuarial discussions. For those who are interested I will be starting a thread on the merits of merit rating plans.

[After the trades, somehow I ended up with "The Complete Wisdom of Andy Lang". On the bright side, it wasn't too much to carry home]
It was bigger than
O The Complete Jokebook of the German People
O Blacks I have met on my Yachting trips
O Blacks who voted for GW Bush (excluding El Supremo and Watts)
And I forget the rest...god it's bad getting old...
Maybe next year at your party I can show you my best stuff. Sound like you had fun fun, till your daddies took your t-bird away.
You shudda seen the parties I used to throw on 91st and Lexington. Or the x-mas ones in the lunch room at National Old Line in Little Rock--or in a half dozen other places afterwards.
Got into some trouble a few times, but managed to survive. Why are the girls in Little Rock so much better looking than the ones in Ny City (that's only an average of course)? (exception for Paula Jones, Pre-Face lift and boob job, natch, courtesy of that dough she made on that lawsuit and the numerous appearances in various publications and tv and movies)

[Franchise? I was expecting elmo. But good to see you. Are you really from South Philly? (respond in PM in you prefer) So are Andy Lang and I, and I could really use some help trying to keep him under control.]
Many are chosen, but few suceed.
Steve, once I answered the door to my own party with my tie half in my drink. Never drink more than three dry Martinis.
Sound like you guys had a party to remember.

Sorry, I must have missed this question somewhere along the way. Alas, I am not in South Philly. My namesake used to rule the roost there, but it is no more.
Ahhh, the good ole days.
