Anyone have any good suggestions on how to memorize this list? I usually get to those cards, stare at them for a minute and give up.

I think this is from the "Group of Thirty" SN and in Jam section 6, cards 64-66.

Repetition.

That's how I do it, at least. I generally don't get the entire list; but generally you're not going to need the entire list.

One of my gripes about the JAM cards is the fact that several "topics" are spread over a couple cards (2 or 3) because they won't fit on one card, which makes it difficult to memorize all broken up, and it makes it hard to "shuffle" the cards when studying later.

[My other gripe is the choice for bright construction worker or jailbird orange for all of those Section 3 cards.]

Now, to the topic at hand, keep in mind that this list is basically the index of the Group of 30 study note: 1) How likely is it that they would ask a list question? (e.g., how many "pure" lists would have gotten you points on 8V?); 2) how likely is it that they will ask you to list the index of a text or study note? (e.g., What are the names of the 5 chapters 1-4 and 7 in Hardy?); 3) have they yet asked a question involving this specific study note on the previous 8V exams? (e.g., is this really testable material beyond listing what things should a company do to manage derivative activity?).

Perhaps 2005 #1b is the closest they've come, so with that in mind:

How hard is it to break it up into subsets like the index?
Gen. Priniciples (9 recs, #1-9)
CRM&M (5 recs, #10-14)
Enforceability (1 rec, #15)
S,O, & C (3 recs, #16-18)
A&D (2 recs, #19-20)

Under GP (the longest and hardest list now), the recs (4 have "Market" in name) are
1) ROM - Role of Mgmt
2) MTM - Mark to Market
3) MVM - Market Valuation
4) IRS - Id Revenue Sources
5) MMR - Measuring Market Risk
6) SS - Stress Simulations
7) IFF - Investing & Funding Forecasts
8) IMRM - Ind. Mkt Risk Mgmt
9) PE - Practices by End-Users

Under CRM&M (5 letters in abbreviation, 5 recs), the recs are
MA - 10) Measuring & 11) Aggregating Credit Exposures
12) ICRM - Ind. Credit Risk Mgmt (like #8, but for Credit)
13) MA (again) - Master Agreements
14) CE - Credit Enhancements

Under Enforceability, well it's 15) Promoting Enforceability

Under SOC (3 letters, 3 recs):
16) Professional Expertise
17) Systems
18) Authority
I bet if you just wrote "systems, operations and control", you would get the points.

Under A&D (2 letters, 2 recs - and they start with A&D!)
19) A- Accounting Practices
20) D- Disclosures

Of course, you'll need to be able to expound a little on each one, if they ask what a company (such as LifeCo) is currently doing or needs to do.

Maybe it's just me, but I love the orange cards. I memorize them first because of the color. ;) seriously...

Yes. Who told you that? It's probably not too late to order them.
They are a mix of new cards and applicable lists from Course 6.

Is the flash cards the same as the condensed lists in Book 4?
