I've got some excel Macros to create. I have Excel 97. The macro user has excel 2000. Is there likely to be any issues in the transition? (I'm trying to enforce a policy of no more $'s to MS, thus my reluctance to just upgrade).

What about an open source option? Is there anything I can use to create macros that will upgrade smoothly to excel 2000?

TIA,
glenn

I've had little problems with macros working in higher versions. Some versions add some new features that with a tad bit of tweeking made my macros tighter and more efficient.

Going backwards is bad though...

I haven't encountered any issues, so far, using Excel 97 VB in Excel 2000.

It's an entirely different story for MS Access, however, requiring databases to be converted and VB code to be recompiled.

I suggest setting-up a MS 2000 load for testing; of course, that would violate your policy on M$.
