This is a perpetual problem -- where to study? Most companies will encourage you to find a private place to do this, and medium-large ones often provide a study room. Few non-actuaries understand the need to study during work -- it can backfire.

At my first job, the co prez saw some actuarial students with books open at their desks. He abruptly canceled the whole actuarial student program when the chief actuary let him know that the actuarial trainees were studying. Most (including me) left.

I certainly hope that the co-prez was later fired.

I certainly hope that the co-prez was later fired. No, he was the son of the previous prez, had lots of clout with the board. He engineered slower co growth. Current CEO got his FSA (after a brief struggle w/o actuarial study program), left the co, returned as chief actuary under new prez, co growing again. :D
