I doubt there's much demand for actuaries in Pocatello. Just sayin'
Somebody pick an identifier besides ISU: http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actuarial_discussion_forum/showthread.php?p=2691100#post2691100

I was under the impression that there was no Actuarial Program in Ames.

Don't forget Indiana State University. The Missouri Valley Conferences gets interesting when ISU plays ISU. ISU is way better than ISU in football and usually basketball, but it just gives a head ache when you see that ISU is playing ISU. At least Indiana University was smart and is the only IU while Iowa and Illinois are UI.

There isn't, unless they added one this year.

There are many of us that did not get an actuarial degree. I don't know of too many actuaries from Iowa State though.

Oh, I see. I guess I misinterpreted the title "Actuarial Science Universities Forum" then.

I am an actuary from Iowa State University. ISU doesn't have a specific degree program for actuarial science, but we are one of the best universities for statistics.
I do know several actuaries from ISU though. I think it's mostly because ISU is a very good engineering school, and a lot of us switched from engineering to actuarial science....

That's the exact career path I'm working on. I got my BSEE from Iowa State in 2001 and have spent the past eight years as an engineer. I passed the 1/P last month, and I have just started exploring entry-level actuarial jobs in Iowa.

Hey everyone!
I don't know if there are any current ISU undergrads/alumna visiting AO nowadays, but I just joined. I know a few actuaries that are also going to ISU, but I'm not sure if they come here.
This coming year 11-12 will be my last, and next May I'll start looking for an EL job.
I've passed P and FM so far, but sadly I'll have no time to do an internship prior to graduation, so hopefully P and FM (and maybe even a third one before graduation) will be enough to get me a job somewhere.
