Just curious, but how many of you all who are registered for the Nov. 1 G&H DP Exam (or planning to register) took the CSP this spring. It seems to me their might be a slight advantage (however slight) as to maybe what the DP will look like or what to expect. This poll isn't for making excuses for those who didn't take CSP in the spring, but more in the way of just curious

At the risk of making my slight advantage even slighter, I'll point out that the CSP exam has been released, so anyone who didn't take it in May can check it out.

thanks for the link... I was also thinking the approach of going through the process of how to study for the exam may be aided by those who may have gone through a "similar" process before

I tend to believe there's not a significant advantage on insight to the tested material. My guess is that the study manual authors will do a pretty complete job of identifying the important material for the exam, just as they did with CSP. In addition, I'm sure people will go through and identify relevant questions from the old C8 exams and post them on here (I will get to it at some point if nobody else beats me to it).

However, I do think there is an advantage in the intangibles: having practice at disecting such a large volume of material, having actually taken an exam of this size and length, and being able to adjust their approach based on prior results. I think people who took C8 (or any upper level exams for that matter) were probably at an advantage to me in preparation for CSP, and I expect that having experienced CSP, I can adjust my study process to be better prepared for DP (and I will probably make further adjustments once I get my CSP results).

All that being said, I don't think the advantage significantly outweighs a person's study habits and learning abilities. I think it will only make a difference to those students on the borderline, a student who has practice on these types of exams may be able to squeeze out a few extra points over a student who hasn't.
