Why is it that sometimes we can delete our posts and sometimes we can't? The "delete post" at the bottom of the reply box is not always there.

The delete box times out, after about half an hour, I think.

The delete box is only available when you are logged in with the same name you used to post the message.

This was also discussed in the "Ability to delete posts" thread. In one of my posts, the delete button was still available after 24 minutes, but not after 47 minutes.

Who (besides the Board Lords) can delete a post by an unregistered Anonymous? Anyone? No one? I almost tried it when this post first showed up, but thought that might be seen as rude.

It seems that the correct answer is "No one".

Moderators can delete, edit or move any posts any time.
I thought that you could delete or edit your own posts (logged in under the same username)any time. I'm not sure about the time-out though.
You cannot delete or edit anyone else's posts.

I thought someone in the other thread determined that you could no longer delete if a certain number of respondents had posted after you.

<font size=2>Yes, but I was wrong. I had suggested that as a possible explanation to the problem, but it turns out to be time-related instead.
