Where do your allegiances lie?

Who do you think the best team in the nation is?

Yes. Finally a hockey thread!!

I'm a Dartmouth alum and we had some sorry-ash teams when I was there (93-97). I'm talking about finishing 11th in a 12-team league, when the top 10 seeds made it to the conference tournament. Then they brought back the one player that ever made Dartmouth a success post WWII (Bob Gaudet) to be the coach and suddenly they're making the NCAA tournament again! This year, from what I read, Harvard and Cornell are tough in the ECAC. But for pure fun it's hard to beat Michigan vs. Michigan State outdoors in Spartan Stadium.

They bought their way in, you mean.

Heck, you know, bringing in new coaches - that's just plain buying success. You're living in a dream world if you believe otherwise.

As an alum of BU (93-97) and Michigan State (97-98) my allegiance is split. I had the privilege of being able to see a lot of the big rivalry game (BU-BC and MSU-UofM.) It's nice to see both teams in the top 10, even though I'm not quite convinced that either team will be Frozen Four bound. Although, it is refreshing to see some of the teams that haven't had a lot of success recently doing well, like St. Cloud and Denver. It's even better to see BC, North Dakota, and U-M struggling.

It would be different if Gaudet skated a single shift since 1981, but since you are more interested in scoring rhetorical points than in discussing college hockey, then F you and your puny private parts.

Now this is a thread!
But let's set some ground rules.
UofM can mean any of a number of teams.
Both Minnesota and Michigan like to use it.
How about MI or Michigan, or Wolverines for Michigan and, MN, Minnesota or Golden Gophers for Minnesota.

My allegiance is with the Golden Gophers.
And how can anyone call them "struggling" this year? They have a #2 ranking, and are 12-2-3. The WCHA is definitely the "League to beat" this year. The NCAA tourney will be a rehash of the WCHA tourney.

Now that the ground rules have been laid, I meant to say that it's nice to see Michigan
struggling.

The national championship is going out west this year. I just don't see how any eastern team that gets to the Final Four can beat 2 western teams in a row. Especially not an ECAC team. UMass-Lowell and UNH have the best shot. BU has lapses during games that tournament-quality teams can take advantage of.

I've rambled enough. Basically, the WCHA is the best conference, and with Denver, Minnesota, and St. Cloud facing each other several times (as well as Colorado College and North Dakota,) they will definitely be the most battle-tested teams when tournament time comes around.

More talk about my private parts. This Kordell thing has affected Steelers fans in ways I wouldn't have expected - though I guess people do want to be like their heroes.

You're just mad 'cause you know I gotcha. Hee.

Especially with that new arena with those leather seats - only pansies would watch a hockey game in such an arena (or rich Nazi loving former North Dakotans)

I'm a Michigan State alum (93-96). It's a little different seeing them ranked lower than #1 (they've been there most of the time through the past couple of years - until the tourney starts). Number 5 will do for now - maybe they can conjure up their best hockey when it counts this time around.

As far as Michigan State goes, Ryan Miller can only take them so far. They need goals. Last year's game Frozen Four game against North Dakota showed that. It'll be difficult for them to win against a offensively driven team like Minnesota or St. Cloud if both teams are playing their best. But as an alum, my devotion is eternal.

Go State!!

What's up with these Steeler fans and their obsession with all things gay? Does that "gay steel mill" I saw on the Simpsons really exist?

Hockie is a gay mans sport for the closet ballerina. Darnell, my lovely husband is a man. A black man. How many black men in college do you see put on ice skates? Disney on Ice would be much more appropriate so Kid Rock can kick their butts.
