Alright, who's responsible for this (http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808420114&cf=info)?
This is the story of Brad Gluckman (Kennedy), a wannabe rap star from Malibu who acts and talks like he's from the "'hood." Concerned that his son is going to embarrass him during his campaign to become the governor of California, Brad's wealthy father (O'Neal), and his campaign manager (Underwood), hire two Juilliard-trained actors (Diggs and Anderson) to disguise themselves as "real life gangstaz", and kidnap his son, dropping him off in the "real hood" in Compton, in an effort to scare the ghettofied attitude and behavior out of him.
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual humor, language and violence.
Release Date: April 18th, 2003 (wide).
Everytime I pull up Yahoo, I have to look at that.

Is the fact that Jamie Kennedy's one of the writers something of a hint?

After the latest string of craptacular movies to open at #1, including [deep sigh] Kangaroo Jack, I will have lost whatever faith/respect I have left in the movie industry if this movie opens at the top of the box office

There's a Coors Light commercial that I caught several weeks ago that I realize now was a spoof of this movie. Rather, a spoof of this spoof of a movie. The marketing machine will open it at #1, no question.
I guess Taye Diggs has some bills to pay. Never heard of this Jamie Kennedy fellow. I'm sure his parents are very proud, whatever they've changed their names to.

Don't you mean you'd lose whatever faith/respect you have left for people in general who go to this movie and put it at #1? How pathetic. How do these kinds of movies ever get made?!

People are stupid, AND they have money.
It didn't cost much, and it will make more than it cost. End of story.

I take some solace knowing that "Boat Trip" opened at #10 and has made less than $10M to date... and to think that Cuba Gooding Jr won an Oscar just a few years back...
Jaime Kennedy's been around for awhile now. He's had that show "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" for a bit, and I saw his house on MTV's Cribs last summer. Of course, none of this disguises how horribly bad the previews make this movie look.

We need more quality movies like "The Core".

What, have you never seen Scream or Scream2? He was actually good in those, but it was all downhill from there.

I was quite dismayed to come home to the rest of the family for Easter and find out that indeed my mom was one of the few that went to see "Boat Trip"... :shake:

The comedy "Malibu's Most Wanted," starring Jamie Kennedy as a rich, white kid who thinks he's a gifted rapper, opened at No. 3 with $13.1 million. The film, which cost only $15 million to make, was released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a unit of AOL Time Warner Inc .
Mr. Kennedy's parents are said to be holed up in their Montana compound in the fetal position.

Different strokes for different folks. Sometimes I just want to see a really silly movie. Sometimes I don't want to think during a movie. Not every movie I see has to be mindblowing.
