A road I drive on just had its speed limit increased! While it still could stand to be raised by another 5 or 10 mph, at least I won't be driving at a normal speed that's 50% greater than the speed limit.

Someone mentioned this in another thread I believe. They do sell them mini-cream eggs in 5 (10?) pack...and they are obviously smaller. The regular ones (as found in a box at a convenience store register) seem to be the same size as they were when I was a kid

Why has the size of the egg changed?
As the world's largest confectionery company, Cadbury Schweppes is committed to developing great-tasting products that consumers love. Since people's preferences vary from market to market, so do our products. This is reflected in the broad variety of sizes and flavors of products that we offer our consumers worldwide.
If you're eating a Cadbury Crème Egg in the UK or Canada - nothing has changed, they're the same size as ever. However, in the United States, our business partner, Hershey, elected to reduce the size of the crème egg.
Cadbury Eggs remain a consumer favorite and continue to be an excellent value. We apologize for any confusion or misleading information.

Friends called last night. Often she calls to talk to Mrs B, but they were both on the phone, and they wanted to talk to both of us. It could only mean one thing:
They're getting a baby!!!!
Sam was born yesterday afternoon. They sent pix. According to the email, "He's not officially ours yet, but we're officially in love!"
They've been struggling and praying for a baby for years, so it's great for us to see this for them.

so 6-6-08 they find out they're 'getting' a baby....I thought this was just an odd way to say they were pregnant...
if he was born yesterday afternoon...then there are a few scenarios possible...
1. they waited a LONG time to tell everyone
2. quickest pregnancy ever
3. adoption...I'm going to go out on a limb and guess adoption

Great news. Best wishes to the happy new parents. What is the time requirement to finalize the adoption?
Wannbe, the hint about "not officially ours yet" brought me to the conclusion that it was adoption.

I'd never been a huge fan of Sonic, but every now and then my coworker would go to the one up the street from our job (in Georgia). When I lived in CT, I saw a commercial one night for Sonic and I was like "Oooh...Sonic would be great right now!" They had just shown a bunch of local ads, so I figured it was local. I looked it up, and the nearest one was like 6 hours away! WTF?!?!? :swear:

On the subject of finding a Sonic....when I was in high school, I first heard of Sonic. I found out there was one about an hour away, so one summer day my best friend and I decided to drive there (this was also the closest town with a mall). My mom found the Sonic's phone number and decided to call them for us to find out where exactly it was. The conversation went like this:
Girl: Hello, Sonic Drive-In.
Mom: Hi, where are you located?
Girl: Excuse me?
Mom: Where are you? What is your address?
Girl: What?
Mom: What is Sonic's address?
Girl: Um..uh...huh?
Mom: ADDRESS. When you look outside, what street do you see? And if you walk outside, what numbers are on the side of the building?!

Well, my company was giving every employee a free chocolate bar as part of an event. Then on my way home, I decided I hadn't been grocery shopping so I didn't have anything at home for dinner. So I swung through the drive-thru at Chick-Fil-A and the girl says "welcome to Chick-Fil-A! To celebrate our new chicken strips, we're giving away a free order to each customer today. What else can I get you?" I had no idea.....but I was like "Okay!" :)

It was a nice day to bike into work. Not too cold, not too warm.
:pigsfly: is my happy thought for today.
One of the radio stations I listen to has recently started a new feature where a woman's voice (kind of like the automated voices in voicemail & customer service phone menus) announces the name of the song and the artist just as the song finishes playing. I absolutely love this feature - sometimes I forget who sang something or never knew it to begin with, or if it's a song I really like, I can find it quicker instead of trying to remember and google snippets of song lyrics later (because of course I never catch the beginning of the song when the DJ says the name, and even that's not guaranteed).
