Although I have an old soul (8300 years old is young by dragon standards but given the local population I am old) but am new to you. I suppose I qualify as a new person. Thank you and happy returns my green friend!

At the school concert, he (9) plays a recorder, she (10) an orff, which is a kind of xylophone. Has anybody else ever heard of an orff? (Hotbot gave me some interesting links that enlightened me a bit.)

Four Kids - Four distinguished honors, plus citizenship, plus principal's art award.

Principal's Art Award (started in '82) given out once a year. The art is framed and hung in the school permanently. My daughter shared this years award with two others, the 3 works of art are parodies on famous masters. My daughter, without me knowing, chose Van Gogh's "Stary Night" She did it with kites for stars. :)

Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain

Well I'm the new kid, I'm just comin' up
A lot of rappers think that I can't tear it up
Well I'm 'a show 'em and ignore 'em
And when they think I ain't lookin' I floor 'em
I mean take 'em out I keep groovin'
A slick bass line keep the beat movin'
They can't take it they just fake it
They wonder how the Rob Base make it
I get ill, you know the deal
Cuz this is how the Rob Base feels

Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain

I keep smokin', hot like fire
You had the turn, now retire
Don't talk back, I'm not a new jack
Cuz I'm fresher than you, an' you're whacked
I keep tryin', I'm not lyin'
Up to number 1 is where I'm flyin'
I won't slow down cuz I'm the new kid
With the devastatin' sound that hits
In the house where I used to practice
No one knew the Rob exists, but now
I'm gettin' greedy, don't lead me
The wrong way cuz is just might, might, might
Bring me down, I'll have to fight to get back up
Move away cuz I just won't slack up

Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain

Now, I go to shows to watch other MCs rock
And if they're good, I don't knock
The way they perform cuz I like to see a good show
After that, go play C-low, y'know
Cuz I'm a leader, no I'm not a follower
And MCs like you I swallow 'em
So don't look and try to judge me
Because you think that I'm another MC, well
I'm the new kind, I just moved around
But that don't mean I can't rip up the town
Me an' my boys, we make noise
I hate MCs that think they're with toys
I'm hittin' harder than any other MC
Who try to come up and go against me

Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain

Not from the old school or from the new
Applaud the boom, do what you want to
Talk to me then try to put me down
We used to be cool now we don't hang around
Used to be friends but now we're foes
Ask me why, man, no one knows
Maybe jealousy between you and me
Could be the fame, could be the money
I'm goin' for mine and I don't really care
Cuz the spotlight Rob Base don't share
I'm the headliner of this show
And you're just a kid and you need to grow, because

Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain
Joy and pain
Like sunshine and rain

I somehow thought this was related to this other quote:

I was once walking along a street at night when a chartered school bus full of 20-something women drove by. It stopped at a light and some drunk woman stuck her head out the window and started yelling, "Show us your d***!" at the top of her lungs.
Now if I were straight, this story could have ended as one of the highlights of my life. But I just walked away.

lol its poker terms, for a hand that happened last night.

I was in the dealer position (meaning i get to act after everyone else) and got dealt 9,9. I called the minimum amount. The dealer then turns over 3 cards in this case 2 3 9. They guy to my left, who acts first bets every chip he has. The remaing players fold not wanting to risk a substainal amount or all of their chips. I call his bet (all of my chips). I now have three of a kind and he has a pair of 8's. The only way i can lose at this point is if the next two cards are 8's or the next two cards are both of a specific suit (i forget which suit).

Why do women find the being proposed to on valentines day is so romantic even if they know or suspect its coming? I would think that planning a special night before or after valentines day and proposing then would be more romantic. That way the lady gets an additional day of romance.

Sometimes it's hard to celebrate the night you got proposed to. When you tie it to a holiday, then the day never passes without you remembering that it has additional significance. Valentine's is a day when you're already being romantic, what better holiday to heighten the sense of romance?

I got proposed to on Halloween. Now, to begin with I already loved Halloween, but now we always repeat the things that we did on that night. We check out all the kids in their costumes, drink wine and eat sushi and make a night of it. It prolongs an already fun occasion and the anniversary of the proposal is unlikely to get overlooked.

I propsed to my wife on Halloween too, by coincidence. At college, she would come over every Tuesday and have dinner with me and then later I would drive her home. I shared a house with 8 guys, and I just happened to decide the time was right and didn't think about the fact that Tuesday a week later was Oct. 31.

Better yet, the day my wife called me to let me know she was [unexpectedly] pregnant with out first child was on April 1. She was serious, but before leaving work and coming home I had to ask if this was an April Fools joke and she said NO.
