Anyone else going to be cutting it close to the 10/31 date? At this point I am planning to submit that last week in October....just curious how many of us are left.

I will not likely submit before 10/24, unless things go exceedingly well with the project this week. I am about 70% done with project, just need to get some new scenario files input into my model, set up a few spreadsheets, and run some numbers. I am really, really, really hoping to get all done by the end of September. If so, I should be able to present some time in the first 2 weeks of October and then do the write-up in about a week.

All distance learning is done, though, so that's taken care of. I will be attending the L&H Qualification Seminar in November, so I expect that my "acceptance" of the PD plan will take longer than some others.

Anyway, good luck!

Good luck to all of you. I recommend sending it UPS, and make sure you get the right Tracking #.

The SOA is currently averaging 7-8 weeks turnaround on PD approvals. If it gets sent back for any reason, they must receive your resubmission by December 31. That's not much time if you turn it in at the end of October.

Just sayin'.

Usually when plans are rejected only minor rewording is necesary. I would think most people could get that done in the 4-5 weeks spanning December. Granted, that would not be a fun holiday activity.

I agree. I had to resubmit mine (which I did the day after receiving the notice) and was approved the same day as those that had originally submitted the same day as I had.

what does minor rewording mean?

my expectation is that the society will likely accept most written projects, and if reviewed would make sure it is content worthy.

I would think that minor rewording would be related to individual program summaries.

btw, still working on mine, turn in sometime in October

In my case, it meant adding more information to the session writeups about how the sessions applied to my plan.

From what I've heard and read online, typically when plan is rejected, there is just one specific part of the plan that needs refining. To me, it sounds like something that can be done well within a week or two, especially if it's given high priority (which I'm sure anyone would).

I'm sure it can be done in a week or two, but keep in mind that the volume of submissions is probably growing exponentially as the deadline nears. This means that the length of time it takes to get someone's PD plan back to them for a correction/clarification may very well take longer than 7-8 weeks if submitted at the end of this month. They put the documents into a first-in, first-out queue. So those last submissions this month will have to wait the longest. As part of this issue, be aware that there's a limited number of individuals that are part of the PD committee. So even if the volume increases dramatically, the volume of staff will not.

I would prefer that the Society not take on extra staff who are not familiar with the review process. I would prefer they step up their plan to get PD plans reviewed in a timely manner by existing staff.

For those who have not turned their information, my suggestion would be to allow one week to compile the "final packet", meaning signatures etc.

I do have pretty strong faith that the Society will be fair in what they provide back to us in time to finish things up. It might not be a fun holiday season.

However, I do not believe that the Society will be forgiving about the October 31, deadline:wave:

Can't we submit via email?

Can't we submit via email?

Only initially, but you're required to send in your packet with original signatures.

I would have a Fed-Ex packet on 10/31 or sooner.
Your "registration" is logged on the date they receive your packet. (not your email)

Anyone planning to hand deliver a packet to the SOA tomorrow morning?

on the eve of the deadline, good luck to everyone...
