These are the problems Carmody suggests. Not all parts of the problems are on the FET syllabus

For 8V,

2005 #1,7,8,12,16
2004 #1,16,17,19,20
2003 #1,2,4,5,6,14,18,20,23,24

For Course 6,

2005 #2,8
2002 #4,13
2001 #12

That's great thank you!
And I guess the case study is the same as previous years?

I think there was an adjustment to LifeCo case in year 2003 or 2004? so LifeCo before those year could be slightly different.

What about the 2006 8V exam. So far, I think 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 16, 18, and 20 apply to our exam. I'll try to work them over the next few days. Anyone else working on these?

If anyone can compile a list of applicable 8E/F Qs, that'd be awesome too...I remember seeing relevant Qs when I was going through those exams studying for the CSP, but I didn't track it...

I'm working on it, but it might be later in the week. Some of the published solutions to the 8E/F are pretty awesome...they mention what reading the question was based on and what they were looking for in the solution...they also point out what mistakes a lot of the candidates made.

For 2006, 8E and 8F have many of the same questions.

Questions 4 and 8 are the same on both exams and apply to FET. There are probably others, many of the problems on the 2006 exams have one part that applies to the FET syllabus.

FYI - for 8F and 8E the morning session is the same, so the first half will always be the same on those exams.

Has anyone done the practice examsin the JAM manual yet? Did you think they did a good job of covering most of the material?

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I figured here's a good place as any to post Qs on the old exams.
My question:
on the 2003 8V exam for #4, why do they calculate the rL using the industry information instead of the actual company's info? I thought you only use info from comparable companies if info on your co wasn't available, which it appears to be...

Yes, I also was puzzled. I think there is another question where they used company-specific info for similar situation.

Qn about using exams 2002 and prior - is there a reason why people aren't looking at them at all?

yanz

my guess is that they (or the solutions) aren't available or the syllabus changed significantly in 2003. but i'm just guessing...

Quick qn - I didnt want to start a whole new thread. In 2004 8V # 19, where do they get the foreign rate (rf) of 0.05%?

TiderInsider

.Japanese government bond rates are 0.05% compounded continuously

Thanks dude (or lady :)) for answering my questions. I was using Carmody's copy of the qn (in his study gude), i guess he forgot to copy that tidbit in there.
