The best part (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-mnf-stark&prov=ap&type=lgns) of Monday Night Football won't be back next year...
Melissa Stark will not return to ABC's ``Monday Night Football'' for a fourth season as a sideline reporter, USA Today reported Tuesday.
Stark, who married Mike Lilley in 2001, is expecting her first child in September. She replaced Lesley Visser in 2000, along with Eric Dickerson. Dickerson wasn't brought back after his second season.
``I love 'Monday Night Football,''' Stark told the newspaper. ``So it was an incredibly difficult decision. But now it's time for a new chapter of my life with the baby and possible other television opportunities.''
ABC Sports vice president Mark Mandel said the show is seeking a new reporter for the 2003 season.

Maybe they'll replace her with Armen Keteyian. I like him better. :) That guy with the dreadlocks who did postgame interviews and such during the NCAA tournament is pretty cool too.

If you think Armen Keteyian can replace Melissa Starks, you're either missing the point or have odd tastes.
Or perhaps I am :furious: EN FUEGO!!!!!!!!!! :furious:

I'n not a big fan of the sideline reporting thing anyway.
But if you're going to have one, it might as well be Suzy Kolber!!

Bonnie Hunt? I think she's on ABC already. Well, I do find her funnier than Dennis Miller. (I loved when she subbed for Letterman).

Are you talking about Bonnie Bernstein? Melissa Stark is the hottest of them all - what the hell is the problem with all of you (guys)?
Are you talking about Bonnie Bernstein? Melissa Stark is the hottest of them all - what the hell is the problem with all of you (guys)?
Bonnie Bernstein seems to strictly cover college basketball.
You know, it would be kind of funny though, to see Parcells just rip on her if she asked him what he deemed a "stupid" question while he was exiting the field at halftime.

Right. Just like if Martz, Spurrier, or Billick were to do the same. I'm sure the media would treat all 4 coaches exactly the same in that circumstance.

Just when you thought it was impossible, Ab proves us all wrong by somehow inserting a conspiracy theory in a Melissa Stark thread! Nice work, Ab!
I'd like to insert something into Melissa Stark. :o

Thank you. I'm very proud. And correct. Even if it's not exactly on topic.

Lisa Guerrero (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-mnf-guerrero&prov=ap&type=lgns) has been hired as Melissa Stark's replacement on Monday Night Football. It's nice to see the MNF producers realized what important qualities Melissa brought to the table. I wouldn't say Melissa Stark has already been forgotten. It's more that Melinda, errr Marissa, errr Melissa who?
Lisa's bio and pic (http://www.roadandtravel.com/celebrities/lisaguerrero.htm)
(edit to add: I got the link to the bio from a Google search. I don't have the "American Woman Road and Travel" site bookmarked by any means)

Let's see: work one night a week and that's too much with a baby? Sure, you're on the road, but it's one night a week!! Not even a lot of background work. Just two teams. Most of the background for the season could be done before the first game!
OTOH, Lisa Guerrero? Hellooooo, Nurse!

I like how ABC said she will provide valuable insight during the game. Now this is a hot woman. The old "reporter" is now just a memory -- even for you Melissa lovers.
No More Melissa Stark Threads!! :D

i liked melissa starks...one of the few females who actually knew her sports and did a good job reporting. i will miss her. i can't remember names right now, but there are plenty of horrendous female sports reporters/sportscasters who should be covering trivial news crap and not sports! do you remember superbowl 35...i mean XXXV, Ravens v Giants, when that female reporter was in the way on the sidelines and got pummeled?!?! HA HA HA

Lisa Guerrero: Out!
Michele Tafoya: In!
Isn't she the one who made the news for pouring beer on fans at a college football game?

This is all I got from Yahoo Images
<<apparently these images don't want to load>>
Doesn't look familiar, not sure what she's covered before. But Lisa Guerrero was horrible, so it won't take much to be an improvement (should Melissa be ready to come back from maternity break???)

Still doesn't sound familiar, but it sounds like she's done quite a variety.
http://graphics.fansonly.com/confs/nacda/graphics/nacda-convention-2002-tafoy.jpg
Michele Tafoya joined ESPN in January 2000 and has served in a variety of roles, including men and women's NCAA basketball play-by-play and studio host, college football reporter and skiing host. Last year, her role was expanded to include contributing correspondent for "Outside the Lines," "Sportscenter" and other studio shows.
Tafoya, who emceed the NACDA Scholarship Awards Luncheon in 2000, in 1996 became the first woman to call play-by-play in a telecast of an NCAA men's tournament game.
She worked at CBS Sports from 1994-2000 as a game reporter and studio host for the NFL and college football and basketball games. She had also hosted CBS' "NCAA Tournament Selection Show," the Goodwill Games and the U.S. Open coverage. In addition, Tafoya co-hosted CBS' late-night Winter Olympics programs in 1998.
Tafoya was honored with a Gracie Award by the American Women in Radio and Television for "Outstanding Achievement by an Individual On-Air TV Personality" for her WNBA work on Lifetime in 1997.
Prior to joining CBS, Tafoya worked as a host and reporter for KFAN Radio in Minneapolis, primarily for Minnesota Vikings' football and University of Minnesota women's basketball broadcasts. She previously worked for WAQS Radio in Charlotte, where she became the first female analyst to call men's basketball games at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

As long as they show the cheerleaders while she talks, I'm all for it.
She knows the game better than either Melissa or Lisa (IMHO), but she doesn't have the screen appeal.
I thought the point was to have Madden for knowledge and the sideline girl for looks...oh well, what do I know?

Given the way he used to drone on and on and on at the end of his CBS stint, I hope that's not the case. Thankfully, the apparent senility seems to have BAM! rolled back a bit.

I disagree about Melissa. She knew the game as well as any sideline reporter really needs to. That may not be saying much, but she was fine. She put Eric Dickerson to shame.
On the other hand, Lisa was a little incompetent. I had seen her as an anchor on Fox Sports Net and she seemed okay, but she was clearly overwhelmed on MNF. Did anyone see the opening Thursday night game where she asked one of the Redskins what it was like to play against all his old teammates? Hilarious. (For those of you that don't remember, they were playing the Jets and given the Redskins' raid of the Jets, the question might have been valid had she talking to a Jet. But she wasn't.)
I guess Tafoya may know the game better than Melissa (or maybe not), but even if she does, it won't make much difference as a sideline reporter.

It was Patrick Ramsey she asked. Maybe she thought he looked like Laveranues Coles or something. :shake:
