Looks like CLEP is the way to go for econ. Of the VEE requirements, I have macro left to finish.

I just bought the 2006-07 Cracking the AP for Econ. I've also got the Official CLEP Study Guide practice exam for Macro. Cracking the AP has a Macro and a Micro section. My question is..... Did you all really only study the 60 pages or so of info. the study guide has on Macro and get 70+/80 on the CLEP Macro exam? I just want to make sure I'm not missing something because if that is all I need to study, then I can schedule the exam for next week.

Thanks for your help.

Well, note they mention that the macro test also includes a little bit of the the material covered in the micro section. It tells you what material in the Cracking book (at the start of the macro part, I think), so just be sure to also go over that part of the micro, too.

But, other than that ... Yes! Absolutely! That's all you need. As another thread declared, piece of cake.

Ok. Thanks a lot! Wow, I though NEAS time series was easy. This definitely seems easier.

I did it too. Thanks for all the info from this board. I took micro last week and macro this week, spent about 3 - 4 days studying for each while constantly being distracted by other things, and passed both. After getting a 76/80 for micro I relaxed a bit and played quite a bit of video games while studying for macro, although I only got 66 for macro, I am happy with the it since the efforts I put in barely derseved it. I didn't buy the Cracking AP book, just checked out a copy of its 2005 edition and 2006 edition ( and found them to be almost exactly the same, except for the cover and probably 1 extra page), and a CLEP guide by college board from the public library, and that's more than enough to pass the exam. Now I only need to finish the NEAS time series to complete my VEE requirement.

I was able to get through the macro reading in a weekend and reviewed 2 days by taking the practice exams before taking the exam. Although I don't necessarily recommend doing it that way... I say give yourself a week to review after going through the reading... especially if you haven't had the material before... I took the macro test and scored a 69 with no prior knowledge... but I did have micro in the past which helped.

The score sheet that they give you after taking the exam is confusing because it looks like they give you two scores. From what people have posted, there's seems to be a mutual agreement that the score on the left is the scaled score, reflecting your actual test performance. The "score" on the right which has nothing to do with how you performed on the exam, is the recommended minimum score to earn college credit and will only vary depending on the exam subject taken.

This scared me at first because on the score on the right read ACE Score, 50 and score to the left read Score, 69. But it didn't make sense that a raw score of 69/80 only gives one a scaled score of 50/80. But from what I understand now, 69 is your scaled score and your raw score is not known. So the score on the left is the one to compare to SOA's 53 as the score on the right will be 50 for all macro/micro test takers.
