I must be being punished for not reading all the source material for this exam. Working on a credibility paper for work to put together some practical tools for our underwriters and...guess what...actually reading all the credibility papers.
:swear:
So, the moral of this story is: study notes are enough to get you through the exam (hopefully). Source material needed on the job. :-P

Not sure I agree about study notes being enough for the exam, but source material is definitely key on the job. I was actually already very familiar with several Group Insurance chapters from work I had done.

I'm finding that the exam readings are great for an introduction into the deeper topics of the field, but they in no way prepare you for the subtle intricacies of it. That all comes from experience, I assume.

Study Notes provide that much value? Really? Seriously? Hmmm....

I'm not sure the underwriters will appreciate the prowess of Philbrick and his target shooting examples. :)

As a source for ideas, I think they have a lot of value. As a "how to" manual for your job, no.

We'll see! For the work I do, they provide some concrete examples for concepts we need them to incorporate in their underwriting. I'm hoping that the target-shooting visuals translate to more abstract concepts.
On a side note, I'm also putting together 3 case studies. *aaargh!!!* These things are tedious to assemble!

Yeah, after reading them, my conclusion was, "Those are nice ideas! Too bad we don't have enough data to apply them..."
Good ideas for traditional businesses, though. Not so much for niche shops.
