Hi all! Happy new year! :toast:

I would like to ask for some directions.

I am a non-EU and did Bsc in Mathematics 2 years ago. Before I came to Europe I was working irrelated to actuarial science. Currently I am taking a Master course in Actuarial Science in Switzerland. It is a two year Master Program, the courses are pretty comprehensive which prepared us up to the 4th Soa examinations. Now I am finishing my first semester in the first year.

If I want to look for an summer internship in Europe during the summer vacation, preferably in Switzerland, what channel should I be looking at?

I can speak fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Unfortunately not French nor German. I understand that in Switzerland the SOA papers are not as important as in the Asia or the US, but still, I am going to sit for my P exam in the coming Feb. To me, salary is not the main concern because I belive the experience is way more important to me at this moment.

I would be more than grateful if you guys could provide me some guidelines on this issue! Thanks for reading this post:santa:

Internships seem to be somewhat rare in Switzerland, because you don't speak German or French (and presumably no Swiss-German) your networking opportunities are a bit limited. Try meeting some actuaries at a Zurich actuarial meeting (PM me if you want an email contact to get the invite, informal events seem to come up every couple of months), (or Laussane I guess on the French side), and see if you can rustle something up. Otherwise the big multinational insurers (Swiss Re), or any international consulting place with operations in Switzerland is your best bet. You may have more luck looking to England where operations are a bit bigger and I think (although don't know) that internships are a bit more common in general.

Thank you so much for the detail infromation :)
Yes i understand for us the best bet will be the multinational insurance companies, but most of the time, they are also some of the toughest in the selection process.
As for the Internship in England, I am not sure my student permit in Switzerland will grant me the permission to work as intern in UK, I will have a look into this issue and post it back here.
