View Full Version : question for Traci

Traci,
So if I happen to work at the same company as these morons who keep spamming the board, I too could be banned?
Go ahead and get rid of me for this criticism if you want, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Obviously you are free to run this place however you want, but......it doesn't take a genius to see the inherent unfairness in such a setup.
Regards,
VF

1. Traci doesn't ban due to criticism.
2. No ban is permament. Traci might be willing to f&f, with some prostrating. Or for some babysitting.

Thanks Dr T, completely unhelpful.

It seems totally fair to me! We don't need your little civil war in our fine land.
Remember this is not a democracy but you are allowed to say things against the Monarchy.

dear vf,
instead of complaining that it's unfair for a board to be ruled like this, why don't you try standing up, walking to so called moron's cubicle/spacious office and complain there ?
i guess it's easier to come here and b**ch about it to the cyber-tribunal than having to act like a real strong human being and confronting the people responsible for this.
that felt good.

Happy to be of unservice.
You and others seem to think that Traci can be bought by untrue compliments. No-can-do. I've already tried, and we still have to filter out all of the course 5 whiners to get to the more relevant course 8 whiners.

gee...I'm surprised nobody complained that VF should've posted this thread in the Website Ideas/Comments section...

Dr T: that was actually quite funny!
Nature Boy: you are a complete idiot. I don't work with any of the dip$hits in question, I'm just offended by things that are inherently unfair. I don't work in an office with any other actuaries, praise Jesus.
The first post wasn't a complaint, merely an observation. But glad that in your rush to crucify, you made a stupid assumption. Congrats on that. Moron.
Elmo: thanks for the advice!

Did you add the insults when you edited? 'cause, you can always, you know, reconsider. Just an idea.
Thanks for the laughing. All intentional.
Maybe one day, your question will actually be answered by the Good Dr T herself! But with your potty fingers, along with having a child on her lap who might also be able to make out the letters, so she has to both cover the child's eyes and type, I wouldn't expect one anytime soon.

Dr T: the editing was done to respond to Elmo's comment. The insults were there all along.
I don't care if Traci responds, all that matters is whether or not she reads the initial post AND thinks about the comment.

you're way too friendly to work with actuaries.
don't forget - the blue pill should be taken while eating. the yellow one, before going to bed.
i was observing too and suggesting what you or anyone could do if that ever happened to them.
is it just me or do i see a lot of users posting for the first time, having very strong opinions. and not wanting to lose the privilege to post.
it's tragic really.

Nature Dork: read my initial post. I don't care if I get booted.
You weren't observing, you were jumping to conclusions. If you don't like my opinionated nature, too friggin' bad.

Hey newbie. Coupla' points for you:
It's not T running the board this way, it's every discussion forum on the internet.
When you figure out a way to ban users on some way other than their IP address, let us know. It'll be a great revelation to all the techies.
Another point that you seem to be missing that is observed in every forum I visit - it's considered impolite for newbies to just jump in and start criticizing (never mind even posting). Lots of boards I visit would delete your post and ban you for this insolence alone. Be thankful that this board is actually quite lax in that respect.

It's a funny thing, isn't it? How those who pay the piper get to call the tune? Hideously unfair! Abomination! Hint: develop your own website where you can be totally fair. Please let one of us know where it is so we can hear one hand clapping.

anon: thanks for the advice. Gee, never been on these boards before.....wouldn't want to offend anybody. whatever.
Lee: as a left-wing nutcase, you should be sensitive to unfairness.

"""I don't work with any of the dip$hits in question"""
Then you have nothing to worry about - unless you plan to continue using profanity.
I don't ban for criticism - if I did I'd be sitting here talking to myself! But I do have a low tolerance for posts that go beyond PG-13.
"""I'm just offended by things that are inherently unfair"""
As anon789 said - when you come up with a way to ban people other than by IP address - please let me know.
As it is - that is the only means I have of banning these idiots - and it's not without loopholes.
If I could just get rid of the idiots, I would - but I can't. YES - it's unfair - I just have no way around it.

Unfortunately, there is no other way around it. While it is theoretically possible to identify individual posters behind a firewall, it requires illegal hacking.
The only other feasible alternative I know is to send a letter to the CIO managing the offending IP address and ask for assistance in identifying the offending posters. That goes far beyond draconian and opens one up to untold legal problems when people are fired for inappropriate use of company systems.
It's very nice to be here, where a privately run board has the freedom to make a good choice, even if it does not seem fair and even if it is a tough choice to make.
Nice job Traci!

I know that I didn't just read that VT called Lee Mellon a left-wing nut-case.
I must have misread that.

Actually, I think that was a left wing-nut case. Now, if we can find a left threaded bolt case, they may be able to get together and make something beautiful!

Yes, a little thread chasing, a little loctite and my joy would be complete.
