I am going the write the exam DP in Nov 2008. may I ask which study manual is good for passing the exam besides the SOA's study manual? I read the posts saying that Jeremy Bill's online seminar is good, but my company doesn't pay for it. I need to study with the manual though.
Thanks,

If TIA is out of the question because of cost, that pretty much leaves you with ACE and ACTEX, unless someone new jumps in for 2008. The consensus is that ACE is good and ACTEX sucks. If I were you, I'd get ACE manual and flashcards.

Where can I get the ACE manual and Flash cards? I checked the Actuarial bookstore's website, I couldn't find them. Just video flash cards and audio Memorization CD are available.
Thank you.

They might only be available through Actex's website (yeah, go figure).

All the ACE stuff was listed on both websites, but it probably got pulled after the 2007 exam since there will be new versions for 2008. The new versions probably won't be available until about 5 months before the exam.

They aren't usually available until much closer to the exam. If you're starting this early, you might as well study out of the books and wait for the Ace manual to come out.

For this last sitting, we did have a couple of people who purchased just the notes from my online review seminar. It's not as detailed as some study manuals, but I think it does summarize all of the important information. You can also add your own additional details if you wish. There are also flash cards that can be purchased.
If you think you might be interested in something like that, just send an e-mail to me or Day. You can find our contact information at www.theinfiniteactuary.com.
If there's a lot of interest in a more detailed manual, I might consider trying to expand my material to be more like a traditional study manual.

JB,
Please come out a study manual. Not every company pays for seminar. However, study manual should be ok. Thank you.

He did have a study manual. In my opinion, it made for a good framework to design your flashcards around - I liked it for a condensed outline (maybe a little more than that). However, if you're looking for a detailed outline, that comes via the videos and JB's handwritten notes.
I am going to take ILA-C in Oct 2008. Could you please recommend which study manual is good for ILA-C? Is Jeremy Bill's online seminar suitable for DP-Canada?
Thanks in advance!
