The voice of the Lakers is missing his first game since about 1963 tonight because of heart surgery. Best of luck, Chick, and come back quickly!

Not a big pill fan, but Chick is the best. The trimvurate or Chick, Bob Miller, and Vinny are necessary in L.A. Otherwise, the fans would find ten other things to do.

I mean, why do you think the fans leave early without a concern for what they're missing?

Gotta beat traffic. Stock market opens 6:00 am on the left coast.

Stock market's not open on Saturday or Sunday. People still leave.
The point is that since one of those three is broadcasting on radio ("Left-to-right on your radio dial"), it hurts less to leave.

Did they say he is 75 or 85 years old? He is somewhat spry for his age whatever it is with the close the refrigerator door talk.

He is the kind of homer announcer that I really don't care for like Harry Cary, but I guess when he's your own homer...

The paper today said 85, but no one knows for sure. He's kept it secret.

Best of luck, Chick!

I'm from out east, but I attended a Dodger game this past summer. The reason the fans come so early is because it takes FOREVER to get to the stadium. There is absolutely no good way to get to Dodger Stadium (but a beautiful place nonetheless).

Why the Dodger fans leave early is beyond me. I've been to quite a few MLB ballparks and I've never seen so many people leave a tie game in the seventh inning in my life!

Lived in LA 'til I was 10 - grew up with Chick Hearn calling Laker B-ball!

I still have a latent desire to be a play-by-play person because of him! Good luck Chick - see/hear you soon!
