Not including your "background appendix". Including any other exhibits. Count a partial page as a page.

I am allowing multiple choice as a few of us have had to submit more than once.

My original report was 7 pages, I think. Just over 5 for the written portion with a one page numerical exhibit. My most recent version is 12 pages, which is 10 full pages written and 2 one-page exhibits (one numerical and one on the Decision Making Process).

Yes, I would be laughed at if I actually gave anyone at work a report that long and expected them to read it. Well, anyone except a lawyer.

Should you include other apendices in the 5-15 page requirement? (e.g. an actuarial assumptions appendix) The instructions seem to imply not to count these, but your question seems to want to include these.

I counted appendices that I referred to in my report. I didn't include the "background information" that was intended to help the grader understand my project.

12 full pages including one small chart, plus 4 appendices 2 of which were "background" and 2 of which were direct references.

10 pages in the main body of the paper, 2 pages of appendices referred to in the paper, plus the background appendix. Put me at 13 pages overall...here's hoping 13 continues to be my lucky number!

Right now I am at 16.5 pages. This is largely because I have a lot of footnotes. I think if I make my footnotes into endnotes, my actual paper will be 14-15 pages.

I am currently wrapping up my memo (didn't write a report since I would normally communicate to senior management and staff via memo) and have 18 pages. No charts or graphs - not sure I want to include any charts or graphs, as it will make the memo much longer.

The 18 pages excludes my Appendices that were prepared for the benefit of the markers - another 9 pages or so.

To those that have passed (first or subsequent tries), is this acceptable or should I whittle this down further?

Your thoughts/comments/advise from the wiser would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

I don't claim to be wiser, but the instructions are pretty explicit about the 5 to 15 pages limit, excluding appendices. Failure to adhere to this is one of the reasons listed as increasing your chances of receiving does not meet minimum requirements. But feel free to roll the dice and let us know if it works.
Disclaimer: I'm still awaiting results (and getting very annoyed about it).

ha! ha! I would rather not roll the dice on this one! :) Thanks for your response.

Good luck with your result.

Cheers!

I wrote 6 pages, plus one page of tables and graphs. Honestly, i would have preferred to write less and make it clearer. If it takes me more than 5 pages to explain something, it's usually because i have no idea what i'm talking about. Oh, well... still waiting for results...

Failed the first submission. Second one was around 10 pages + appendices. It was a gawdawful conglomeration of facts and stories that attempted to hit all of the SOA requirements for this project. It was overly convoluted and abhorrent to read. That one passed. Go figure.

I wrote 13 pages, the 14th was the Appendix. I had no tables and graphs or extra appendices. Hopefully I passed.
