I had a calendar about 10 years ago called "Funny Ways to Die." Each month was a new illustration with a funny way to die. A couple I remember were...

1. A scene of a concert hall, with a trunk locked in a large container of water on the stage. The kind of thing a magician escapes from. The people in the crowd are whispering to each other, covering their mouths, looking at their watch, etc.

2. A boxer punching another boxer, and the punched boxers skull coming out the back of his head.

3. A football pile-up, with a severed head rolled a few feet to the side.

My funnybone tells me that only the third example is at all humorous. The first is ho-hum and the second is merely gruesome.
