So I'm at the regular Thursday night game, playing stud. There's two queens in front of me, one sporting a club and the other an inviting red heart. I look across my at my competitor who's showing a small straight which makes me laugh. My wild one-eyed jack in my hand will blow everyone away - what a great feeling. Have you ever felt that way?

Did you get a raise out of anyone?

Do you have your ace in the hole, too? What a joker!

too bad you weren't playing draw poker or you could've thrown a jack off and gone for a third queen.

Hey now, that kinda chatter can get you banned!

I thought you were playing poker? What's with the wild cards rookie?

Deuces, Jacks and the Man with the Axe?
Night Baseball?
One Eyed Jacks and Suicide Kings?
Acey/Deucy?

How 'bout Old Maid and Go-Fish while we're at it?

I just wish I had the stones for high stakes poker. Since I don't, I often get sucked into some of these games at my neighborhood 'Friendly Game'.

I was waiting for MNPOKER to weigh in. Isn't that what they refer derisively in the Norseland as "Iowa Chimp Games"? Also I thought the term "Stud" meant no wild cards?

I thought "Stud" meant you didn't draw cards (i.e. to distinguish from Draw poker)

Stud games are when some cards are face-up and some are hidden. This creates different strategy and different probabilities than draw poker.
No drawing in the traditional versions of these games.
5-card stud is 1 down and 4 up.
7-card stud is 2 down, 4 up, and then one down.

Guts is fun, but it usually results in someone losing a bit more than they were hoping to in a 'friendly' game.

He's just hoping to poker later.

If that is "poke her"; based on the description of the playing partners, there is no her around and it is not a game I want to get involved in.

Sign on an old saloon: Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

You still owe me a game.

And a death in the next 30 days.

Plus when you decide to hop into a Asop game I am paying your way in.

But it has to be a surprise.

Al Lewis...tick tock
