Just checked. That was the old schedule....surprised to see that the suggested 1st time reading ends at March 27th

Do you guys think the page count will change by much?

Of course! Since the volume of actuarial knowledge has increased, they have to expand the length of the syllabus!

Anyone have a reading rate of 1 page per minute? If so it will take you 43.63 hours just to read through the material once. That doesn't include time for practice problems, re-reading and, most importantly, comprehension.

Sometimes it seems like the SOA is only interested in people who have special abilities to absorb and apply material instantly upon reading it. I used to be able to do that (high school and college) but not anymore.

It's the difference between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. Both players were quite good at what they did. MJ however had tons of innate talent. LB on he other hand had to practice, practice, practice to reach his full potential. Does the SOA want MJs or LBs?

If they want both, I need more practice time!

I probably start off at a 20 seconds per page pace, which exponentially declines as I get further into studying. By my alst readings, not factoring in inadvertant nap delays, I'm probably at a 5 min/page pace.

Can't agree more. I made a complaint after FETE saying how we have full time jobs. Guess they didn't care.
