Laptops, Centrino vs. P4

I am looking to replace my laptop. I am confronted with the choice of Centrino technology (Pentium M chip) or the Pentium 4M chip. Which processor is better? What are the trade offs between the two?

Any suggestions on what type of laptop to purchase. Brand / Model etc?
I am leaning towards purchasing a Dell this time around.

Consumer Reports likes the Centrino, but they have never been the best source for computer info.
