The Islamist message seems to be: We will shoot you as a warning that if you shoot us we will shoot you in retailiation, even if you haven't shot us yet.

Simple and elegant. Gotta love it.

The fact that this happened in India shows how deeprooted and widespread Muslims are.

I still can't believe we listened to the EBs of the world who convinced us to choose terrible relations with the 1.5 billion Muslims in the world, in favor of good relations with 5 million self-serving Jews like EB.

Many followers of Islam in general have no tolerance for any other belief system.

Also many followers of Islam are willing to use force to punish or eradicate any who dare to challenge the Islamic way of life.

Many Muslims consider the U.S. to be the GREAT SATAN becuase they view our "secular" life style to be offensive to Allah. This Muslim hatred of the U.S. really goes way beyond U.S. support of Israel.

Can anybody name a Muslim country that has a functional democracy or women have a modicum of human rights? Can anybody name a Muslim country where the human rights of religious minorities are respected by the dominant Muslim culture?

Ever wonder why one of the symbols of Islam is the curved sword? Violence against "infidels" is a core part of Islam. Many Muslims consider the U.S. to be a nation of flaming infidels.

If you want to get involved, a good starting point is becoming more informed about Islam.

That's BS. There are tons of secular countries which have NO problems with Muslims. The only reason some Muslims hate the USA is because of our support of Israel in favor of them.

And how quickly they forget all the money we give to Arab countries. In Egypt the press says how evil we are. They still take our money, however. We give them the second most foreign aid of any country. I notice that the Muslim countries sitting on oil don't give the poor Muslim countries that much aid. Perhaps it is time for them to realize that their fellow Arabs are the hyppocrites and liars.

We shouldn't give ANY of them money. Israel or the Arabs.

Most fundamentalist Islamists would not change their view toward the US one iota if we dropped all aid and support to Israel.

They see us as a threat to implementation of full Sharia law in every Muslim country, because of our support of the moderates there.

Quit blaming Israel, it doesn't matter to bin Laden if we support them or not. He uses our support of them as a recruiting tool, that is all.

"The only reason some Muslims hate the USA is because of our support of Israel in favor of them."

No, the reason the Muslims hate Israel is becasue the US supports them. This war did not come about because we support Israel.

bravo, Matoro! great point!

We would be hated by Bin Laden if there were no Israel at all. He'd just have a little harder time recruiting. Thinking otherwise is pure naivete.

You know that's a lie.

Bin Laden did not have a problem with Israel until it became convenient. He was mad at us after he fell out of favor with the Saudi Govt (which is why they threw him out of the country).

Also, it seems rather hypocritical that Bin Laden and the Taliban pretend to be devout Muslims when they grow massive amounts of poppy plants for heroin. Rather, they seem to be religious when it suits them.

I didn't Bin Laden dislikes us because of our support for Israel, I said more Muslims than need be dislike us for that reason.

Some of you Anons should register. It is quick, and you don't have to give a real e-mail address. It would also make reading the messages easier, since people would know who is speaking.

"Most fundamentalists would not .... even if we dropped all support of Israel"

That's a new opinion to me. Do you have any references that I could read?

My first reaction, of course, is that the fundamentalist opinion of the US, even if negative, wouldn't have led to this without the Palestinian "troops".

What is the taliban stance on heroin? (what a funny question I just posed!!) I've heard they're pusing it on Pak. and Iran to support they're cause, but I've also heard they're cracking down on it. In both cases from seemingly anti-taliban journalists. Anyone? Anyone?

As far as muslim countries treating folk as second class, it seems rare for countries not to repress minorities. the indian gov't admits muslims are 2nd class citizens there, blacks haven't had the easiest time here, blah blah blah...and french in canada and anglophiles in quebec aborigines in aust, aboriginal folk in canada blah blah blah
And I think lebanon is muslim. do they treat christians badly there?

"Rather, they seem to be religious when it suits them."

Not that any US leaders could ever be guilty of that.

you mean guilty to the level of destroying statues of another religion and forcing non-beleivers to wear distinctive clothing to identify themselves as such? I guess the US leaders are not guilty of that.

I finally saw Schindler's List last year. The stunning point from the end of the film - that there are virtually no Jews in Poland now, where there once were a million? That there are more survivors from Schindler's group than all the rest?

It is right to support the "few" - the "5 million self-serving Jews like EB" and the poster above so offensively put it.

Otherwise, couldn't you make an argument that the U.S. could just go out and exterminate the 1.5 billion Muslims, and then their numbers would be so small that they wouldn't matter and we could support them???!!!??? Of course not!

I don't understand the particulars that resulted in Israel taking over Palestine, but if the Palestinians were given a state somewhere else and that became a non-issue, (or even if Israel moved to another location - say in North Dakota) the U.S. would still be a major problem for the Islamic extremists.

Listen, all you Jews and Muslims need to chill. 5,000 Americans lost their lives because of you people. Stop watching Schindler's list, stop throwing rocks, just f'ing get a life and stop starting trouble for the world.

The people did not lose their lives because of "you people" - the Jews and Muslims. They lost their lives because of extremists who hate the U.S. You may as well blame the Pope for what is happening in Ireland.

Schindler's List is not about Muslims, but it shows the plight of the Jews that led to the reformation of Israel.

Some Moslems will not accept living in a nation not governed by Moslems; some Jews will not accept living in a nation not governed by Jews. Who is worse?

America's support for Israel can, and has been argued, with many strong arguments on both sides. I for one, have not been a proponent of US support to Israel.

However, at this point, all of those arguments are irrelevant. There is nothing that can justify the attack and murder of 10,000 innocents. The attackers have lost any and all arguments concerning whatever point they were making. Their actions were absolutely wrong.

America has been attacked. The American government has a duty to protect itself from future attacks, by whatever means is necessary.
