View Full Version : End of Summer Par-tay

Cannonball

Greetings! How delighted I am that you could make it. elmo will be along shortly. I kept her up a little late last night, doing what I ought not say. For now, make yourself right at home.

Beyond the courtyard at the back of my estate, you can see the rolling hills of southern Wisconsin. And to think, in a month or so they'll be so loaded with color you'd think a rainbow had melted all over them.

But oh! - how I get ahead of myself. As promised, the band is getting set to play back there. I may need to warm up a little on my horn at some point. You'll find food and drink scattered throughout the grounds. Those wishing to do so can take a dip in the pools, or saddle up for some horseback riding. Guest cottages are beyond the tennis courts.

The weather forecast is for a beautiful September day - sunny and in the lower 70's, though tonight may get a little nippy - lower 50's. But hey, that's all the better for "sleeping", right?

Again, how happy we are that you could join us. I can't imagine a better way to say goodbye to summer than with all of you.

Great place you have here, Cannonball. Polly should be here soon, so I'll wait near the entrance until she arrives.

I'm temporarily overdressed. Silly company rules require business attire after Labor Day for work. I don't think the rule applies while "sleeping", though normally we don't "sleep" on company time.

Great place you have here, Cannonball.

Why thank you. And to think, I bought it all on an actuarial salary.

I forgot to mention that swimming attire is purely optional for those wanting to take a dip.

I hope elmo awakens soon. I really want to do some swing dancing with her!

Great place Cannonball! Is that a hot tub I see over by the pool?

Traci has asked me to make sure this Par-tay stays PG-13. I'll just be strolling around, and won't disturb anyone behaving properly. Or you could just assign a succession of Chicks to keep me distracted.

Here, Mod1, drink this. Don't worry, I assure you there's nothing in it except brandy and a little sleeping powder.

Why not invite Traci along? We'd love to celebrate the end of summer with her.

I'll be happy to keep you company, though the band tells me they'll be playing "Summer Wind" soon, and they'd like me to accompany them on alto sax.

Anyway, I haven't told anyone yet, but I've been growing some herbs in the garden (throat clear...ahem), and as it turns out, one of is THE cure for the common cold. Here, have a little in this tea. You'll feel better immediately!

Ahhhhh, this soiree is simply smashing! Thank goodness for these sweet September days! Ooooooh, they're playing "In the Mood". Anyone care to jitterbug with me?

I brought Mulan another drink for her cold :) I've been fighting mine with lots of tea and vitamins.

I think Ducky has the key to the tequila stockpile, but I think I run and get it from him. Just tickle him under the bill and he'll do most anything for a Chick. ;)

BW...what the heck is MD 20/20? Some Barbara Walter's special on Maryland?
