a/s/l?...JK! Grad/year/degree....introduction thread!

I graduated in May 2008 with a B.A. in Math, minor in Comp. Sci. I'm from CO, and haven't been much outside the Denver/Boulder area, though I REALLY want to.

I was in Pi Kapp, Math Club on and off, lived in Aden (Engineering Quad whoo!!). This year I might try and join the swing team or tango club.

After planning on going to work for gov't jobs or DoD contracting places, after graduation I ended up teaching. I have left that after quickly realizing that is not what I want to do with my life, at least not at this point in my life. So for now, it's back to school for a year starting Summer '09 and hopefully getting the Actuarial Cert come spring '10. After that, lots of praying that I can land a job.

I've finally got back into rock climbing, recently. Since I have all the equipment and mother nature doesn't charge, that's about all I can do/afford at the moment lol. That's all I got for now...yay Boulder!!

I graduated with a BA in math and the actuarial certificate in December '08....passed Exam P/1 last year, taking Exam FM/2 in a few weeks.

Here's some free advice: Stay in school! The market for entry-level jobs is crappy right now.

I graduate with an Applied Math major and Philosophy minor in May 2010. Passed P/1 May 2008, and passed FM/2 a couple weeks ago. I have an internship this summer in Denver, and plan on starting my studying for MFE in July.

Perhaps we'll end up having some of the same classes next year, Wufai. :)

Nice! good job on having two exams done!! I'm sitting for P on July 9th. I'll probably take one of the M's in November and the other in the Spring. We'll see, maybe I'll get excited and take both in Nov. and C in the spring...well, maybe excited isn't the best diction...

here's my schedule for the Fall though I plan on dropping Econ 4808 and changing APPM 4520->5520, but that's not really changing anything lol:

The changes that you mentioned are probably a good idea. Math Stats with Jem will be great, and I think will definitely be worth taking as a grad-level course. I took ECON 3080 and FNCE 3010 last semester, but I believe I'll be in ECON 4070 with you in the spring... that's Topics of Micro, right?

I'm not sure what to do about the M's... I'd like to get both out of the way next year, but I also want to kinda relax a bit during my last year of college. Probably gonna go with relaxing, and then start really crunching through exams when I graduate.

Thanks! Definitely enjoy your last year of college. It's nice to have the extra time to just hang out with friends, get all you can out of your last year in college and plan for post-grad plans (job, housing, etc.).

Though I like the November sitting because it is far enough away from Finals and hopefully mid-terms as well.
