Under no fault coverage is the damage to car, damage to personal property in the car, and Loss of wage also covered?

What is confusing me is the fact that the thresholds (in case of modified plans) are either based on medical bills or the verbal thresholds so should imply that these cover only medical costs. But in the solution to 2006 2b. Ken wrote: All tort claims still allowed and plaintiff's insurance company can receive payment from defendant. So does that imply that modified plans are only medical coverage plans while add-on and so forth provides coverage for all?

Thanks!

I was under the impression that no-fault pays 1st party medical benefits. Wouldn't your physical damage coverage cover the damage to the car and personal property? Then loss of wage + medical would be covered under no fault.

Could be way, way off base here, but that's what I think (at least, for now :))

Hamilton and Ferguson page 8.21 -- under modified plans -- "Bodily injury claims that do not cross the threshold are limited to payment of actual economic loss -- that is, medical expenses, a percentage of lost income, and substitute services expenses -- from the injured person's own insurer."

Damage to car would likely be under collision coverage or property damage coverage. Same with personal property in car.

Yes I am under the same impression buddy. Just that 2006 2b solution looked weird. The text only touch base for medical payments and rehab benefits so I believe thats the case, might be the solution meant something else.

Thanks!

Yes, no-fault insurance covers medical benefits. In most states that have it, in fact, it's known as Personal Injury Protection, or PIP.

If someone hits you and damages your car, you can either go through your own insurer and get it repaired under your Collision coverage or you can get it taken care of by the other person's Property Damage liability coverage. Some states also have Uninsured Motorists Property Damage coverage which you can buy to cover uninsured claims and hit-and-runs if you choose not to buy physical damage.

Just a note, if you use your own Collision coverage when another party is at fault, your insurer typically has the right to subrogate against the other person and/or their insurer. If you paid a deductible, you are entitled to recovery of it from the subrogation.
