Canadian APC (professionalism Workshop)

The CIA website says I can use the workshop to replace the APC, in order to receive my ASA designation, but can I do the reverse; take the APC and skip the workshop? Would I need the workshop for my FCIA?

It seems that I can take the US version, but I'm not sure.

I am not doing the CAS exams, which does say the workshop it required.

I think I've heard that you do need the Canadian workshop for an FCIA. I'm not 100% sure though.
