View Full Version : Best 80's movie ever! Matchup 3

Inspired by the Best NES game surveys. I put together a survey of 64 movies that were released in the 1980's. I created my list more or less from the top 10 grossing films, cult classics, well-knowns, AO favorites, and movies that I just plain liked. I tried to pair up similar movies, and when sequels were used, I tried to pair them up in the first round. However, all three Indiana Jones movies were on the top 10 grossing films list, so there is only one first round Indy matchup.
I'll start with 4 matchups today, if you want me to do all eight matchups from a bracket, I can do that as well.
Matchup 3 has The Terminator trying to survive an encounter with the Predator. Who's more lethal?

Yep. I don't care for that particular genre of film, but Terminator was good enough to overcome that for me.

Do you like movies?
Today's movies...not so much. Just a bunch of mindless trash most of the time.
In general, I enjoy them...I just don't ever seem to find time to sit down and watch a 3 hour show. I'd rather watch sports, or play games, or read.
I tend to only be drawn to movies that are based off of a book I've read/heard about, or ones that are sports themed. And ones I like I tend to rewatch.

Oh god how could Predator lose with gems such as:
"If it bleeds we can kill it"
"GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!!"
and
<throws knife into guerilla rebel, impaling him against the wall> "Stick around!"
Plus it has Arnold, The Body, AND Carl Weathers.

T2 was also far superior to the first Terminator. Predator all the way on this one. (We just won't compare sequels)

I was also in the minority who voted for predator.

This was a very rough draw for Predator.

They just did a back to back of Predator and Predator 2 last night on HBO.
The Danny Glover sequel is crap but I think Predator is an amazing movie that still holds up well even today. I think overall it's arguably Arnold's best movie and certainly in his top 3. I would agree with the voting if it was T2 vs. Predator, but T1? Come on...Predator is a far superior movie.

why the hell would you start with 2 Arnold movies against each other?
Predator >>>>> The Terminator

It's a good thing these ones are 20-30 years old then!
