Inspired by the Best NES game surveys. I put together a survey of 64 movies that were released in the 1980's. I created my list more or less from the top 10 grossing films, cult classics, well-knowns, AO favorites, and movies that I just plain liked. I tried to pair up similar movies, and when sequels were used, I tried to pair them up in the first round. However, all three Indiana Jones movies were on the top 10 grossing films list, so there is only one first round Indy matchup.

I decided to post 8 today. I figure why not give lots of options to talk about movies?

Matchup 7 features everybody's favorite group of 80's loveable losers in Revenge of the Nerds vs. the adult kid in Big.

ROTN is stupid, but in a good way. Big is just sentimental twaddle.

Both had equally preposterous plots, but Big's could be explained by magic. Also, I happen to think that it was Tom Hank's best acting performance.

Nerds is awesome. The Greek games bring back so many memories. The whole things does. Big, while a good film is just too sentimental for me. Plus only one of these has nudity. :tup:

Funny, my wife and I watched Big over the weekend so I'm biased. Haven't seen Nerds in a long time, interesting that it starred Anthony Edwards. They did have a really funny Family Guy spoof of it a few weeks ago.

I'm surprised Big is losing, but I guess we are on a forum full of people who identify with the heroes in the first movie.

Big was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Though now it's creepy to think that a 13 year old boy in a man's body slept with a 30 year old woman.

Now when a 13 year old sleeps with a 30 year old its a student and a teacher. That is creepy.

This one is close, so I'll leave the voting open until noon eastern tomorrow (June 26). I believe I'm going to declare winners on the rest and move on to the second quarter of the tournament.
