Ok, so I've been convinced to post the rest of the bracket. Begin your voting. Oh, and I may or may not declare UHF the winner over ET due to vote fixing.
Matchup 28... I don't really know how to describe matchup 28.
Rain Man vs. Princess Bride

Okay, if Princess Bride doesn't win, inconceivable! One of the best movies ever.
The Princess Bride is my all time favorite movie. It was on the other day and my roommate had never even heard of it.

Adventure, fighting, danger, kissing, true love,...Only one conceivable choice.

Yeah I knew I couldn't be happy with my vote no matter where I put it. I love Rain Man. Definitely.

Rainman was a quality flick but Princess Bride is an absolute classic. It's the type of movie almost anyone can enjoy.

OK, now I'm glad I voted for Rain Man so the better movie can win but Rain Man won't be slaughtered.

This is an unfortunate seeding for Rainman.

C'mon. This crowd has to go with Princess Bride, no matter how the general public might vote.

How is this a first round matchup? How can I choose between these 2? I love them both. But I voted Rainman because it is a better overall movie. Princess Bride is funny and clever, but Rainman is a cut above.

There are like 26 first round matchups that are tough to decide between.

Not for me there wasn't. This was by far the toughest.

I counted 10 Hard matchups in the first round. Most of those were ones where I didn't like either movie. How does rain man get a matchup with princess bride but Back to the Future II actually make the cut. Or Land Before Time? And everyone knows Empire is better than Jedi and Last Crusade is the ultimate Indy. Yet Temple of Doom makes the cut? This was just a BRUTAL draw for Rain man.

Temple of Doom was one of the top 10 grossing films of the 80's. I didn't want to include it, but felt obligated. I find it interesting that you say, "Last Crusade is the ultimate Indy." It seems like not everyone agrees. Lots of people have commented that they'll vote Ark over Crusade. Should be an interesting matchup if we see it.
I agree with you on Empire, but a lot of people also think Jedi is better (I know, they're crazy).
Why did you start making these public? I'm actually less inclined to vote on some of them now.

Silly purests thinking Ark was better. It was good. A very close second to Last Crusade. How do you go against the addition of Sean Connery to the cast though? I mean come on.

the originality of the first of a series caries a tremendous amount of weight with me. As someone who saw these in the theature, I feel Ark was better, I couldn't remember any other movie that started into the action that quickly and found myself not breathing for that first sequence. The action was new, the humor, the little things like the shooting of the swordsman or knocking out a guard just to not have his shirt fit, was all so new

Plus, it had Karen Allen, who was definitely the best love interest of the three. Capshaw was excruciatingly bad, and Doody was just forgettable.
And maybe he didn't quite make it to Connery levels, but Rhys-Davies came respectably close on the sidekick scale.

I can understand this. But do you think Star Wars: A New Hope was the best of the three? I mean compared to Empire and Jedi it is pretty bland. But it was new at the time.
I have to admit I was not old enough to see any of the Indy movies in the theater. Nor was I old enough to see Star Wars. But don't you have to step away from the newness of it and look at them as a story? Ark was new and adventurous. It developed Indy's character. I agree that karen Allen was a plus and was the best female lead in any of the series. She does well again in Crystal Skull. But as far as best story goes I still have to go with Crusade. I guess using the word obviously in my original post was a bit strong, but most people I talk to seem to agree that Crusade was best

from a pure emotional standpoint yes. To me Raiders and A New Hope were the best. They elicited such a wow, such an OMG factor in me, that even if the others are better stories and better technical movies they never got the same response from me, so in some way they were lessor.
I am not sure any movies will ever make me feel like those two did.
Then again if you ask my dad, Gunga Din was probably be the best movie ever made. I watched it with my daughter the other day and told her to mention it to her grandfather. The way he beemed just at the mention.
so to me, New Hope and Raiders will forever be two of the greatest films I ever saw. even if they weren't

What do you have to be embarrassed about?
And honestly, not directed at you, hotdime, but losing ~5 votes of people 'afraid' to vote is much better than getting ~50 extra votes by 5 people.
