Edwin Dailey, a 73-year-old resident of Austin, Texas, is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a confrontation at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, an arrest affidavit said that Dailey confronted three men on the ninth hole for playing too slowly. The argument continued during the round and into the parking lot, where Dailey took out a loaded, automatic handgun. "If I feel threatened, I am morally obligated to destroy you," he said, according to the affidavit. One member of the threesome, Matt Nader, is a student assistant coach for the Texas Longhorns football team.

What'd he shoot? Was it a tough course?

he didn't shoot that well because the course was still set up tough from the PGA event the weekend before. Lions Municipal Golf Course is not for the casual golfer.,

If you keep the automatic handgun in your bag do you have to count it as a club?

USGA or RCGA? The rules are slightly different Re: guns

I can never remember which rules we usually use, it's the set where you can have two caddy's if they're strippers.

That is RCGA.
Article II.2.b
Guns count as a club unless the golfer declares that it will not be used in any golf manner. Should a declared club be used in a golf manner, the golfer will take a 2 stroke penalty as well as lose the use of a stripper caddie for 6 holes.

K cool. My one buddy always puts with his rifle but carries 14 other clubs so I'm going to have to call him on it next time.

Hmmm....gun in bag --> golfing + skeet shooting. Your opps on the course have the opportunity to shoot your ball while it's in the air. A disintegrated ball is a two stroke penalty, and drop a new ball. A hit ball (if it's only damaged) may be played or a new ball may be dropped with a two stroke penalty.
Still not a sport, but at least it's interesting.

How about you bring a gun to someplace where people are playing frisbee golf and you get one point for every frisbee golfer you shoot. That also be not a sport, and more interesting than your non-sport idea.

What's wrong with the statement? I agree with it completely. If you threaten me, I'm morally obligated to protect myself by eliminating you. It makes sense.

So if I threaten to tell your wife you're off your meds again, you're morally obligated to kill me?

Twelve people were killed by a gunman who went on the rampage across Cumbria in north-west England.
Taxi driver Derrick Bird shot dead a colleague in the town of Whitehaven, before driving through the countryside apparently targeting people at random.
Eleven others were injured, three critically and five seriously.
Mr Bird's body was found in a wooded area in Boot in the Lake District, where a shotgun and a rifle fitted with a telescopic sight were recovered.

Still not a sport, but at least it's interesting.Gives a whole new meaning to 'shooting a birdie', though you could get in trouble if you 'shoot an eagle'.

Always a few A-holes on the course. I stopped playing a few years ago and don't miss it.

how is that a moral obligation? by what set of morals? i think you are using two wrong words.

I am on the old mans side on this one, and can totally see myself doing this
I recently learned a little about the Church of Satan. One of their 11 Rules is that: "When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him."
I wonder if this guy is a member of this organization? Or maybe just a crazy Texan.

Sometimes I bring my gun with me so if I see a turkey or a deer I can take it out right there on the golf course. Plus Matt Nader is a punk those guys probably deservered it...
