Is anybody here attending the FAC in Hong Kong, August 10-12, 2009? I've seen no discussion of it. Note that the youngest FSA ever -- breaking a 44-year-old record -- will be there.

How do I know if I can be there, if I have not finished all the requirements?

I have FETE, FSA modules, VEE, and FAP left. Will try to attend that.

The deadline is passed. I'm just curious why no one here seems to be discussing it.

If you want to exempt me from DP and CSP, I'll gladly go to watch the historic event.

Interesting, how old is she/he, and the ex record holder?

All will be disclosed after August 12, when the great event occurs. The current record for youngest FSA (who went through the SOA system start-to-finish, without credit from another system) is 22 years, 3 months (8137 days, to be precise), set in May 1965.

I would happily have gone to Hong Kong, but the airfare was a bit too high to ask my company to pay for.

Pay for it yourself. Take a vacation! :)

Was the record broken or shattered (sha-dooby)? :)

I could pay for airfare to HK, but I prefer Toronto...no time zone change for this "old" FSA-to-be (32)!!

Sha-dooby. Under 7700 days.

So who was the youngest actuary at 7700 days? I'm guessing they started taking exams in high school.

I'm waiting for confirmation that he completed the FAC. After I hear back, I'll post something.

I was at the same FAC. He got his FSA.

PS: Aw... Bruce, after all your activity on this thread, I was hoping to see you there...

What did Cecil say about him? I really wish that I could have been there.

I try to find the English news later and post it right here
I don't know he can find a starting job in our competitive market or not >"<

Nothing much was really said about it actually, besides Jerry Brown mentioning during the graduation banquet that he beat the record by a whole 3-years when usually the people who beat the record only do it a few weeks at a time.

The previous record-holder, Stu Nagler, was 22 years and 3+ months old when he became an FSA in 1965. Andrew Lin is about 3 weeks short of his 21st birthday. So the difference is about 16 months. Still a lot, but not 3 years.

He should change his name to Tiger Actuary.
