Description:
Reporting to the Rate & Rule leaders in the Actuarial department your specific responsibilities will include:
Specific Responsibilities:
Working with other members of the Energie and production support teams to design and develop the system files and programs required to perform the rating of personal property and automobile as well as individually rated commercial automobile, including tables for rating variables, risk classification rules and rating algorithms.
Mentoring junior members of the team to ensure most efficient design and implementation of technical support tools in support of rate and rule engines development.
Maintaining system files and program coding relating to the rating and rule application to the personal lines Property and Automobile (personal and commercial) lines of business.
Accountable for updates to Standard Operating Procedures as processes around rate and rule activities change.
Working with other members of the Energie and Production support teams to build, implement and maintain the rules engine for the personal property and automobile as well as individually rated commercial automobile lines of business.
Supporting the updating of system rate files to implement rate changes that are approved by the Product & Pricing Committee. This includes working with Actuarial and Underwriting Departments to suggest the most productive ways to implement new products on the system, including the creation of new classification variables, rules and discounts and surcharges where necessary.
Supporting the testing of rate and/or rule changes to ensure correct implementation on the system, in a timely manner.
Investigate and resolve problems that may arise in the rating and classification of automobile and personal property risks.

Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of insurance systems and rating structures is essential.
Must have an analytical mind and demonstrated problem solving skills.
Must be meticulous in work habits and pay close attention to detail.
University degree, college diploma or CIP designation.
Preference given to candidates with strong programming skills and aptitudes.
