Increasingly, the mid eastern people are a target for hate crime which they do not rightfully deserve. I wonder what are yalls opinion.

Howard Stern was on the air this morning very seriously promoting the idea of deporting or killing all from Islamic countries.

He takes a harsh stance partly because of his belief, but you wonder if he should be allowed to say such things.

I think hate crimes should be prossecuted, there's no room for them here. and howard stern should be yanked from the air for all the anti-arab anti muslim garbage he spews. It's funny, he really is patting himself on the back for staying on the air. He really thinks he's performing a public service, and he's trying to act modest about it "just doing what any decent person would do" Hope he gets his tongue cut out.

I was really getting sick of the constant stream of "be nice to Arabs" messages from public figures -- I'm not really concerned about people's feelings at this point. But last night at a candlelight vigil in our town, Congressman (and former Navy pilot) Mark Kirk of Illinois pointed out that we should look at Arabs in this country not as enemies, but as resources in the coming battles. We need their language skills and knowledge of the culture to figure out how to slay the terrorist beast. It's the most sensible thing I've heard all week.

The Greaseman was kicked off the air for saying racist comments of a similar nature. What makes Stern so immune?

What exactly did Howard say? I listened for a bit this morning and didn't really notice anything that would qualify as racist. He wants to a nuke a few countries, but given what happened, that's not an uncommon expression of outrage. He condemned violence against Americans of middle eastern descent...I think some of you might be exagerating his "racism" a bit.

He said that we should deport or kill everyone from suspect countries. What pisses me off most about what he says is how self-serving it is. Arabs shouldn't be allowed to talk about Jews, and vice-versa.

He said that you can't tell the good arabs from the bad ones, so you gotta treat em all like bad ones. He said internment camps would be good. that was enough for me.

He's just trying to get a rise. Out of his ratings, mostly. He's got to keep people listening.

He's funny, in a "Don't take me seriously" sort of way. Unfortunately, some of his audience are not smart enough to know the difference.

It's alex. I think he's being completely serious about this one. I wish it was just for ratings, I used to really like the guy. But he thinks he's peter jennings or something, doing his part to serve the country.

if Jesse Jackson can get away with calling the Jew "a bunch of hymies" and calling NYC "hymietown", why can't Stern speak his mind?

Did Jessie ever say all Jews should be deported or killed? Do you have any ability to reason?

AB: Good point. I have a vague memory of a Japanese-American unit that was highly decorated in WWII (European front).

Arab-americans can do a lot more good with their language skills and cultural knowledge as you suggest.
