Any idea when the 2004 syllabus will be released?

Are the updates announced in 7/03 good bets for the final 2004 CAS5, or does the CAS have a tendency to make additional changes. I'm interested in getting material for 2004's CAS5, but am wondering whether I need to wait for the official 2004 syllabus release.

thx,

Occasionally they make a change (e.g. the pulling of the DFA notes in Part 8 for 2003) but it is rare. In fact, they did that after publishing the final syllabus, so nothing is carved in stone.

Generally, you can rely on the syllabus change memo being accurate. Go ahead and start studying if you wish.

Thanks for the heads up!

Is there any reason why "Incorporating a Hurricane Model into Property Ratemaking" is no longer available to download?

Is it this one? They may have just missed the link, or it was updated somehow.

Am I mistaken or does the syllabus have Part 5 on Friday May 7th?? I've never had an exam on a day other than Mon, Tues, or Wed....

I kind of like it. It was a drag to have to go back to work on a Wednesday for 3 more days after the exam this year. I really wanted a break.

The bad part is I'll likely have to be at work on Monday & Tuesday before the exam.

Not great for a Sabbath observer like me, but sunset is pretty late that day.

Now that's just plain evil. The exam is on Shabbat. :shake:

No, the exam is on Friday. Shabbat is Saturday, beginning Friday at sundown.

The exam is over by 1:30 - surely you can get home in time, Avi!

Yeah, I know. It's just that I'd rather not have the extra stress of making it home in time. Then again, with sunset aroud 7:30 - 8:00 PM that day in NY, I think I wont have a problem.

I have a friend who took Exam 4, and SOA 3... 2 consecutive days, while fasting both days (he's a Muslim... and yes, that means he goes without food or water from sunrise to sunset).

After looking at that, it's hard for me to think of anything else being tough!

May07 is Friday, the weekly prayer day for Muslims (afternoon prayer).

In b/w, I've muslim friends taking SoA written exams which are consistently offered at fridays each year (SoA exams are much lengthier than ours, 5/6+ hrs) and I guess they offer prayer at the break.
