The Health Management (HM) Actuary, Advanced will:
• Create analysis tools to be leveraged by all HM actuaries
• Function as lead HM consultant and/or lead actuary for several large annuity HM clients
• Spearhead technical contributions to client/promotional activity, interacting with S&A and senior HM consultants to respond to bid situations
• Take lead responsibility for all financial calculations for key HM clients
• Leverage work to multiple HM group actuarial resources
• Interact with other lines of business on key issues affecting many clients (e.g., FAS 106 claim costing assumptions with RFM-Retirement and Financial Management and/or HRO team)
• Manage or mentor several HM associates
• Formulate standards of practice for financial analysis with health care vendors and HMOs
• Support Client Development for medium and large clients
• Contribute to intellectual capital of the firm by developing and sharing tools, new approaches, and best practices
• Seek and provide peer review to ensure high quality client deliverables
• Where appropriate, involved with:
- HHVI (Hewitt Health Value Initiative)
- RFPs (medical, dental, life, etc)
- FAS 106 Development
- IBNP
- HRO rate delivery
- Medicare Part D Attestations
- M&A projects
• Contribute internal initiatives (e.g., training, model development, etc.)
• Develop client, people, business, and/or thought leadership skills and exposure
• Sign Actuarial Opinions and lead analysis behind them, if qualified
Qualifications Required
• Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics
• FSA for 3+ years (or career ASA)
• MAAA Certified and meets the AAA qualification standards as a Health Actuary
Work Experience
• 12-15 years actuarial work experience
• 10-15 years of heath care consulting experience
• Completed requirements for FSA (or 15+ years of work experience in health care actuarial field as career ASA)
