Do you miss the CD Board polls?

1: No, good riddens
2: Sorta, but pluses outweigh minuses here
3: Yes, I wanna go back!
4: Ranting about Social Security and Mormons

Polls would have been fine, if used in moderation. Which they weren't.

I'm in complete agreement with the above. It is a great feature, though many of the surveys were poorly designed and didn't really prove much.

Agree, the polls were getting tiresome. I also didn't like the way you couldn't tell from the main board if a response was a new comment or just another vote in the poll.

The polls were an ugly, disorganized mess

You can get a feel for the number of orgasms people are having every month almost as easily with this format.

No.
Like TV, in which it could have been a great way to inform the world, blah, blah. Surveys could have been useful. Turned out to be TV.

Where do you find this stuff? My gawd, the thread is almost two years old and is talking about the software we used before phpBB.

which reminds me - point for opensource software (like linux). I had to buy a license for the CD forum software. Nobody liked it and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as our current forum software. OUr current stuff is free - opensource! and a far better product.

Opensource is cool. I read a good book about the human genome project, and how those *******s tried to privatize it. Well, the public project considered releasing the human genome opensource style. They looked into it, but decided it wouldn't work. Cool book. Called "The Common Thread".

ps, what's a phpBB? Really, I don't know :-?
