So this article lists Ohio State QB Pryor as the leading contender for Heisman. How many yards did he throw for last year? Is sweater vest going to open up the offense this year and rely less on defense and more on Pryor? Somehow that doesn't seem like McSweatervest to me.

If Suh didn't win last year, we might as well admit defensive players are essentinally ineligible.

Defensive players need to be dynamic return specialists to have a shot at the heisman.

Talk about, 'what have you done for me lately' IIRC, it was only 4 years ago that Troy Smith threw for 30 TD en route to the Heisman! (I think Tressel was the coach then..)

Not that I disagree with the fact that Pryor is overrated. Really, what has Pryor ever done?

If the Heisman Committe takes back Reggie Bush's Heisman, will they give out two Heismans ths year?

I think the Heisman Committee should hand out an annual Reggae Bush to the best player of questionable eligibility.

FYP

They have to be like Charles Woodson. And even then its tough.

I dont understand how Pryor can be the favorite. He won't even win Big Ten POY.

I'm rooting for Noel Devine.

Is pryor even the best QB in the big 10 (much less the nation). The fact that he gets picked just shows how bad some voters and sports writers want Ohio St to succeed (despite their not being a valid argument for him being the best college player).

Will a RB win this year?

What's the breakdown by position the last few years?

QB has won 8 of the past 10 years; a RB won last year. [If you don't count Reggie Bush's Heisman, then a QB has won 8 of the past 9 years.]

Other than Leon Hart, Ernie Davis, Tim Brown, Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson, it has gone pretty much exclusively to QB, RB. [And, in nearly all cases it has gone to a QB/RB who also happens to play for a top 5 team.]

IMO, Mark Ingram will have to do something truly special to be the second two-time winner. Even if Ingram is deserving on his own merit, he'll have to go over the top to get a second stiff-arming statue. After Archie Griffin got two [and you can make the argument he wasn't deserving of either one], they seem to have set a precedent that nobody should get two..

Also, it seems the media has annointed Pryor the heavy favorite. IMO, if Ohio State keeps winning and Pryor continues to complete 80% of his passes, he'll get it unless somebody else REALLY steps up.

Alabama lost. Did Ingram lose his shot at repeat too?

I think he lost his chance at a repeat by missing the first few games. His mediocre performance in their loss this past weekend just solidified that fact.

Cam now front runner?
This Heisman Trophy race is setting up to be one of the most interesting in recent years. As the middle of October approaches, Cam Newton, quarterback of the Auburn Tigers, is the Heisman Trophy frontrunner to this point in the season.

Everybody wants to talk about Terrell Pryor, Kellen Moore, and Denard Robinson. Listen up folks, Newton has led the Auburn Tigers to a 6-0 record leading the SEC. The SEC is by far the most competitive conference top to bottom year in and year out.

Huh? Sorry, not making much sense of what you are trying to say. Not sure what you are saying in those poll results. :-?

I never thought Locker had a chance. The Huskies were not going to be good enough this year for him Ti be seriously considered. And he has disappointed on top of that.

Why asking about Clay? He never really had a chance at all this season. He appears to be a system running back. I have not heard his name mentioned much at all.

He's certainly better than any big 10 QB at OSU or Michigan, that's for sure. If he can win in the crucible of the SEC that is a real test, not like beating light weights of Illinois and Indiana or losing to MSU.

Not sure. Have not seen any auburn games at all this year. Stats are just stats.

I do not even know who Auburn has defeated besides Kentucky. He dropped 200 yards rushing on Kentucky? That really does nothing to impress me. Sorry.

So what impresses you? Losing to Wisconsin?

If Cam wins next week, he is a lock for the heisman.
