When an investment is too complicated for me to understand, I know that means the people who put it together are much smarter than me, so I really want to invest my money with them.

My house is worth about $500k. I could probably pull enough out of that and my kids college fund to get in on this.

Most these scams are packaged as "risk-free investments".

If you underwrite a lending yourself to someone, you probably know you should look into who and what. But, scams use packages you don't understand, you just have to say "no".
