Bob Knight has proven this year that he is the greatest basketball coach of all-time. His team is currently 15-3 with two top 10 upsets. This is much better than a team that won nine games all of last year. Knight is the reason. Love him or hate him, he is the best X's and O's coach ever.

Talk about making people puke. Knight is a good coach, but the best ever? Come on. Krezizooski(sp intentional) at Duke has more titles, not to mention Wooden. They also seem to be decent, rational human beings. Quite unlike your hero there.

Wooden is the best ever. Knight is up there, and so is Krzyzewski (sp?). Knight and Coach K each have 3 titles, but Knight had an undefeated team in 1976.

3 titles each? I stand corrected. I do agree with you that Wooden is the measuring stick.

They certainly are 3 of the best RECRUITERS of all time.

Coach K has definitely made it on recruiting - not that he is a bad coach otherwise.
Knight has done it with great recruiting (Isaiah, the class with Cheaney that was the best recruiting class ever until the next year), but also without. If you doubted his ability to coach after 1987, this year has proven it beyond a shadow. Unbelievable.

In my mind, anyone who physically abuses his staff and players is not worthy of any praise for his coaching ability. I don't care what his record is, he is nothing more than a bully. As a person, my opinion of Bob Knight is only slightly better than that of Mike Tyson. I would find links to articles showing all the people he's abused over the years, but it's not worth my time.
BTW - no one else is even close to Wooden.

Guess all this talk got to Knight's head. How can you lose to Nebraska?

No need to show me the articles, I have seen them. Don't know if he's that close to Tyson (I might compare Knight to Rodman), but he is a reprehensible person. That does not negate the fact that he is a brilliant coach.

I don't want to think of how painful it must have been to be in that locker room.

How can you all leave out Dean.
He's by far the best recruiter EVER.
If you don't believe me, just check out do some research on the school with the most players in the NBA.

Good point. Dean was amazing. Not just for recruiting. I think he made a lot of those players great. And the consistency was fantastic.I heard that UNC went to 16 or so Sweet 16's in a row (maybe 1980-1996?). That's unreal.

Speaking of Dean, how about the game last night? I can't Duke beating up on NC at NC. I never can get enough of that.
How arrogant was it for Dean to allow the arena to be named after him while he was still coach?

Doesn't Duke's floor say "Coach K Arena" on it, or something? Hello, Pot? This is the kettle - you're black.

I knew you'ld be back Abby.
Last time I checked, Duke played at Cameron Indoor. NC plays at the Dean Dome.
BTW, where does Ball State play, in the Jock Strap?

In a couple weeks, in a pre-game ceremory before they host Georgetown, Syracuse's home floor will be named 'Jim Boehiem Court'. It's about time the man got some respect.
(He's not quite in the same league as Smith or Coach K, but, over the past 10 years, he's done a remarkable job without having any McDonald's All-American talent.)

I couldn't resist, you made it so easy. That's OK, I would've expected such a huge blunder from someone who didn't even attend the school. Later

What blunder? NC played in a building named after Smith, while he was still coach. Duke plays in a building named Cameron, not K.
Seems like you made the blunder, but that's ok, you went to a school named after private parts. Later

Second to last paragraph:
"Krzyzewski achieved numerous milestones during the past year. He recorded his 500th victory at Duke and his 600th win overall, reaching 600 career wins faster than all but 10 coaches in college history. On Nov. 17, 2000, the Cameron Indoor Stadium court was named Coach K Court in his honor."

Thanks for the link. I followed it to the following:

Is it a seating chart for Coach K stadium. No, it's Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Haven't named the building after him yet. Maybe they'll wait til he retires, which is what NC should have done.

Just so I am clear, it's arrogant to play in a building that is named after you, but not arrogant to play on a court named after you? You're kidding, right?
And how many schools even name their court? Duke is the only one I know of. Talk about arrogant!
Just to be clear: I think both Dean and K are class acts. Just thought the logic above was questionable.

And tony, you might go here to learn the official name of the arena (hint: it's the second sentence): http://goduke.fansonly.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/111700aaa.html

Care to explain? No smilie, so I assume you are serious. Brilliant man, most of his kids graduate (including a lot going early to the NBA and finishing later), friendly, caring guy. I understand if you don't like UNC, but he's still a class act.

How can anything associated with Carolina be considered a class act?

Read the third paragraph ... Maybe the University of Arizona is just as arrogant.
College of Charleston's arena is named after its current coach (John Kresse). Kansas University's Phog Allen Fieldhouse's court is named for James Naismith.
I know there are others; those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Must be lots of so-called "arrogance" out there.
