A bit harsh; getting on a guy because he got hurt?
Granted he played terrible in the first half but it's not like Rogers was torching the defense either. In the end the Pick 6 was the difference.

Hey, if this is a bandwagon where we're supposed to have a reason for hating on Cutler, count me out. I'm looking for the "I don't really have a good reason, but I've always hated that guy" bandwagon.
Personally, I'm extremely disappointed he finally had a winning season. I was hoping against hope that he'd go his entire career without a post-HS winning season.

Let's everyone welcome Maurice Jones-Drew, Derrick Brooks, Anthony Armstrong, Lance Moore, Darnell Docket to the bandwagon.

Note: we're all ready to jump on the bandwagon if he were to try to play hurt and something were to go wrong. "Sit down! You're injured!"

In one of those rare cases of insight on ESPN radio this morning, the point was made that this just really has to do with his demeanor. The guy pointed out that certain demeanors just don't line up well with certain situations. A happy-go-lucky joker might joke around on the sidelines when your team is down big. It's just his personality, but it drives us all nuts because he's not supposed to come across that way.
Cutler's knock is on the intangible leadership quality. He's viewed as self-centered, not necessarily a team-first guy, etc. What they wanted to see was a guy fight to play, or try to rally the troops with encouragement when he couldn't go, or something.
The fact that it just looked like he quit - even though we don't even know the injury status and it may be obvious after the report comes out that he was really hurt - is what draws the criticism.
Fair or unfair, he's one of the worst guys you'll ever see at coming across in a positive light. He just handles himself terribly, and this was the worst possible situation for him to have the cameras on him.

Yep. The Bears PR guy should've put him in the locker room. What good was he moping around on the sideline. They should've gotten more use out of him by lining him up to trip a gunner.

Mike Ditka joined the bandwagon this morning on Mike and Mike. Sorry man...
"I don't know if anybody can play the game when they're not 100 percent or not well," Ditka said on "Mike & Mike In The Morning" on ESPN Radio. "I can't speak for Jay Cutler. I can't speak for anybody.
"Myself, I would have had to have been paralyzed to come out of the game. I don't want to say that word. I would have had to be completely knocked out to come out of that football game."
Not all of us are da Coach, and he even says that. Not really helping your argument. Now, if you find something more definitive, I'll submit to the will of da Coach.

A seasoned QB on the sideline who played 2.5 games against the team and watched tape for many many hours may be able to add some insight that a QB coach might not. Why would you not want him helping out on the sidelines? Is it better for the team that he mopes in the locker room? I think people are being way harsh on him.

He wasn't though. He was moping around on the sidelines and not doing anything. If people saw him on the sidelines talking the Hanie and trying to give him advice and help him out I don't think anyone would be saying these things. All people saw was him sitting on the bench not saying anything.

Fair enough, I only saw the TV coverage, where they cut to him a couple times. Not sure what he was doing the rest of the time, but since you saw it, I will rely on your opinion.

I was reading into this comment as a knock on Cutler. Maybe I took it out of context, maybe not. It is tough to interpret Da Word of Da Coach.

I listened to the audio of it and that is how I took it. After that is seemed me like he didn't really want to throw Cutler under the bus that much so he kind of back tracked on it.

I trust my interpretation. It sounded to me like a bit of a knock, but da coach is a commentator now and knocks a lot of people.

The fact that he didn't completely throw a QB under the bus is a sign that Cutler is acceptable to Ditka, which is the best any QB can hope for in his book. He's never been kind to QBs.

I feel like it's acceptable to assume Ditka was taking the anti-controversy approach when it came to his bread-and-butter former team.
But just like Brian, Lovie, and Olin, I think it's good that they stick up for their teammate. They need to help keep the team composed for 2011.
