This is getting ridiculous and you know who I blame? The county highway department. The county highway department did not clear the county roads yesterday when the snow and ice were somewhat melted. All of that melted snow refroze last night. This lack of plowing resulted in a two-hour delay for school that could have been avoided. I am definitely not voting to keep our county highway commissioner next fall!

You should not rely on the government, you should have been out there with your shovel last night clearing the road yourself. Self reliance, my friend, self reliance. or buy a snowmobile

Actuaries. First you tell the county to put all their money into the employees' retirement fund, then you want the roads magically plowed.

Well they shouldn't take all of our money for taxes if they aren't going to do something for the people for once.
Who pays taxes these days? Get a new accountant or lots of guns and an underground shelter.

Plowing down to black is so stupid anyway. Bad for the roads and it costs too much. They should just leave 1-2" of packed snow on the roads, and people can put on snow tires.

:iatp: Plus the snow helps absorb any frozen precip that falls.

Does your area allow studded snow tires or only unstudded ones?

I was allowed them and/or snow chains in Washington and Oregon. You are actually you are required to have them to cross most of the mountain passes during certain times of the year.
However, in all the upper Midwest states I have been to they are strictly forbidden. You can get winter/snow tires, but the are not studded. But then again, they actually plow the roads in this area.
