ask the shop keepers in LA after Katrina what good the police did. the police were out doing a lot of the looting. f*ing criminal that they are.

wife's uncle was around, said for every person the teevee said died from drowning 15 were shot trying to loot. he said he shot 5-6 people who tried to steal his generator, only had one drop. they just stacked them up...It was the small business and restaurants that were sitting on their roofs laying them down.

States may or may not have broader powers in this regard than the federal govt. does. I'm not well versed in SD's state constitution.

Defense is easier than offense.

Sit on the roof of your store with a scoped .308, and looters will decide to at least go to a different store. Or take a round.

True.

The federal government couldn't do it because it was against the Federal gov't constitution. The state constitution may have no such preclusion.

Only in the sense that you might be able to kill more than one of them, but they cannot kill more than one of you.

They'll just shoot you if they're armed. Even if you kill a couple of them, you'll still end up dead and the rest of them still take your shit.

How often are looters:

1. Armed with rifles
2. Can shoot them skillfully

Because a half decent shot with a rifle and a positional advantage is a pretty good match for infinity gangbangers firing Glocks turned sideways, assuming he has infinity bullets.

Her uncle said 99% of the looters were armed with sticks, machetes, knives, etc.

Some of them did have a gun and they would shoot here or there. What the Koreans were doing was sitting on the stores next door and shooting looters that were across the street. None of them were injured and none of their store were looted.

Now that we are in a blizzard I'll be using my 6.8 to defend my generator should we lose power.

I have multiple uppers like .204, .223, and the 6.8 for one rig. The .204 is good for splatting varmits, prairie dogs, etc. The .223 is o.k. for both and the 6.8 is a power house.

The 6.8 is a cool round. It is a .270 case necked down and a little less powder.

Wikipedia: In tests, it was determined that a 6.5mm projectile had the best accuracy, but a 7mm projectile had the best terminal performance. Further tests showed that a 6.8mm projectile was the best compromise between the two, providing accuracy, reliability and terminal performance up to 500 meters. The combination of the cartridge case, powder load, and projectile easily outperformed the 7.62x39mm Soviet cartridge, with the new cartridge proving to be about 200 ft/s (61 m/s) faster.[7] The resulting cartridge was named the 6.8 Remington Special Purpose Cartridge due to the size of its projectile and the fact that it was based on the .30 Remington case.

The .223 has some perks like way more rounds but the bullets are tiny and leave tiny holes unless you shoot a ballistic tip.

For defense around the house the 6.8 simply has a lot more punch.

But does the 6.8 cause concern about going clear through a wall? For home defense, I'd lean towards something that doesn't carry much energy once hitting a wall or an intruder.

Well sure, any gun for crazies. But I guess we need to be prepared to fight our government so that we can stay out of the camps when the summer of hell begins again, so we all need our semiautomatic combat rifles. I just picked up one of these for the summer.
