Just out of curiosity, are companies giving study time for the Courses? Course 2 doesn't seem anywhere near as time-consuming as studying for an exam, but it's not a trivial undertaking, either.

(I suppose this would make a good poll, but I'm lazy atm.)

My company gives 60 hours for each online course.

Courses are treated the same as Exams. We get 125 hour per sitting* and we can decide how we want to allocate those hours between Exam prep or Course completion.

* "Sitting" as determined by upper level Exams--so basically 125 hours for Jan-Apr and 125 hours for Jun-Oct (more or less).

We are treating them like a CPCU, where we give one hour for every chapter. I think both courses have 16. These are separate from exam prep time.

125 hours for a module?! From what people are saying, that is about twice as many hours as you need to actually prepare for the exam.

My company gives 20 hours, and I thought that was generous

We're still expected to sit for an Exam. The Course is something we're expected to complete in addition to our other Exam preparation.

If we're not sitting for an Exam, we don't get the hours. But it's up to us how to utilize those hours.

Oh, I misread your post . . . that makes a lot more sense!

My original post was ambiguous enough that it would be easy to misread. :-)

My company does not provide any study time for online courses. I think it's because the senior actuaries at my company were not aware of the online courses until we brought up to them. I also doubt that they would grant us a salary raise if we passed the exam.
Should I bring these up to my boss?

Thanks,

You should at least try. The worst that would happen is a "No".
