Assumption of annual policy?

seems to me that most of the time, we are assuming the policy is annual, except that the question explicitly states not to be so. Am I right?

When in doubt, state your assumptions.

If the problem doesn't provide it specifically, it's perfectly acceptible (and often easier) to assume annual policy terms. Just cover your base and state this explicitly.
